In celebration of Norwegian natives Apoptygma Berzerk performing tonight

at Respectable Street in West Palm Beach, a little musical culture from

your friends who grind away here in County Grind.

Proving that the Great White North has created more than gothic-styled electronic music in heated basements, here are five contemporary musicians from Norway that put their wintry stamps on genres some people consider exclusively "American."

05. Gatas Parlament. Norwegian hip-hop that comes with very handy text, in case you can't follow along. Smooth and kinda jazzy. Long intro, but nifty and topical!

04. Xploding PlastiX A different kind of electronic that explodes on a jungle tip! Also taking their cues from the jazz world.

03. Anja Garbarek. The daughter of famed Norwegian jazz saxophonist Jan Garbarek, Anja's been setting the Norwegian jazz scene afire with her smooth vocals and sultry ways!

02. Gorgoroth. You can't have Norway without a delicious helping of Black Metal. These folks take their metal seriously! Fight off that cold with Satan's fire!

01. Gluecifer. And now a little dose of good, old-fashioned rock 'n' roll to conclude our little aural tour of the Norwegian scene! Enjoy!
