Mother's Day weekend surely had its share of pool parties around South Florida, but only one that we know of had an ambitious offering of 15 bands. With a couple equally curious companions in tow, we entered the correct gate code and were welcomed to 8577 Estate Drive South in Wellington -- a suburb of West Palm Beach and home to polo and many, many gated subdivisions. Twin brothers Zachary and Anthony Dewar, who perform as the dark, twisted folk combo the Dewars, were the day's hosts. Apparently, the party commemorated their 21st birthday, and their mother's birthday too.Photo by Reed Fischer This sign was posted on the wall of the Dewars' garage
Fischer pretty comfortable
As the day went on, the grouping of cars parked in the Dewars' front yard expanded, and every so often there was an announcement like: "Whoever drives a Jaguar needs to move it across the street." Aside from the healing benefits of dangling one's toes into the pool, the day's music was at a comfortable volume on two stages -- one set up in the screened-in porch, and another in the back corner of the lush, green yard. We caught performances by Sweet Bronco's Chris Horgan, Lake Worth rockers Luna Rex, Gainesville's Lindsey Mills (who gets that Jenny Lewis/Joanna Newsom balance just right), and knotty West Palm Beach indie trio Lavola.
The party carried on long after our caravan had to leave, but here are a few photos giving an idea of what transpired.

Thanks again for the hospitality and the chips and salsa, Dewars! We'd love to join you again sometime soon. Everyone please share their stories from the day in the comments section.Photo by Reed Fischer
