After dismissing reports and press releases and Ticketmaster links suggesting that Neil Young would perform at Hard Rock Live on September 23, Young is happy to announce that he will perform at Hard Rock Live on September 23.
As detailed in Rolling Stone, the folk-rock legend (a term County Grind doesn't just throw around) will take his Twisted Road solo tour to areas in the U.S. that have been affected by the BP oil spill. It's a shame that environmental distress is the impetus for his visit, but we'll take it.
"Other dates will be announced that are surrounding this show in
Florida
and on the Gulf Coast," Young says. "I am looking forward to playing
Florida and the Gulf Coast." Also in the story is the revelation that
Neil Young is on Facebook!
He's still totally a n00b, judging by his first status update:
Now those conspiracy theorists at RS think that playing "Vampire Blues" (off Best Coast's favorite Neil Young album) live this is a
political move and cite the lyrics: "I'm a vampire, baby, suckin' blood
from the earth/Well, I'm a vampire,
babe, sell you 20 barrels worth." Sure the guy has a lengthy career of social justice and activism backing him up, but there's also a certain irresistable craze going on right now involving Robert Pattinson, Anna Paquin, and a whole lot of corn syrup and red food coloring too. Listen and judge for yourself.
Neil Young. 8 p.m. Thursday, September 23,
at Hard Rock Live, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood. Tickets cost $55 to $185.
