Our colleagues have praised O'Grime, the duo of Nikolais Javan and L. Rey Reyes, as Miami's "no-bullshit antidote to all that crappy ringtone rap about $30,000 watches" because of their 2011 "Best of" album. While that might all be true, these swag-thieving cultural freaks have all that and plenty of "gwap" and taco breath to throw around.
Click that with a little collabo with another local pair, filmmakers Giancarlo Loffredo and Julian Yuri Rodriguez, known collectively as Mollygang, and you'll have yourself something maybe even Madge will follow, which may or may not be a bad thing.
Although the video might try to work like a decimated mindfuck, it's the bumpin' 'n' grindin' ladies set to the metronome of a slow-as-hell digital score that's equal parts Throbbing Gristle, VNV Nation, and the sounds of an old-school cinema projector room falling apart that make the visuals interesting. Crispy and clean too, which is nice.
But what works best, I'm guessing, are the stretched and freaked vocals that run along the track. Kinda like fucking while on Special K and having that nagging suspicion that you might not be able to hold your load and/or beer.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
