Looking to get freaked out? Propaganda, Lake Worth's resident rock spot, is switching it up this Wednesday and featuring an act that plays with your eyes instead of for your ears. The Freak Kings hail from Brooklyn, New York, but are calling the road home through July as they embark on a summer tour. Not your typical traveling performers, the Freak Kings don't play instruments or do literally anything else you would expect of them.
We chatted with Baron Von Geiger, who along with his partner Illustrated Penguin, has created a self proclaimed "punk rock style" sideshow that puts traditional shows to shame. Baron said, "We like to joke around and ask people, 'When you think of a sideshow, what do you think of?' Usually, it's sword-swallowing, fire-eating, and a bed of nails. And normally, you don't see any of those things at our show."

Labeled the "World's Strangest Strongman" after two years on the road as part of the World of Wonders traveling sideshow, we just had to ask Baron how he learned to do his signature move: Lifting heavy shit with the piercings in his ears.
"I saw the Amazing Mister Lifto from Jim Rose [Circus] do it. And eventually, my ears were stretched, and I was thinking if he did it, then I can do it too. And eventually, it just went from picking up bowling balls to being at a house party and picking up an empty beer keg, all the way to figuring out how much I can actually lift, which ended up being 100 pounds. That's the world record right now, as well [from the World Records Republic Holders]."
The boys might just be visiting South Florida, but they aren't rolling into Lake Worth feeling lonely. Good buddies with resident musicians Everymen, the Freak Kings are looking forward to coming back to the small, artsy town. They also have some friends on tour who will be taking the stage, including a tattoo artist from Hawaii and a burlesque performer named Smurf who does circus acts.
Of course, a night at Prop would not be complete without some legit local bands performing as well. The Toilets, The Mobile Homes, and Scarecrow Jenkins Brimstone Jamboree will be warming up the stage for Baron and Penguin.
Still not sure if you are ready to get your freak on? We asked Baron why someone should come out to their show, and he explained it simply. "You will see things you have never seen before. There are things that no one else in the world can do but me and Penguin."
