Today, a regional airline called Silver Airways began direct flights from Fort Lauderdale to Jacksonville. The company will offer this route up to three times per day, more beginning in November. The airline serves 15 other destinations in Florida.
Silver Airways also today increased daily frequencies between Jacksonville and Tampa and between Tampa and Palm Beach, according to a statement.
Flights begin at $59 each way, and the company offers a refundable fare option, so travelers can change or cancel flights without added fees. Says publicist Misty Pinson, "When you search for a fare at silverairways.com, for example Fort Lauderdale to Jacksonville, you will see two columns, including a nonrefundable and a refundable fare option. The refundable fare will be higher but gives customers the option to change their reservation without paying a change fee. This is ideal for business travelers looking for more flexibility when making a reservation."
From Fort Lauderdale, Silver flies nonstop to Key West, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville, as well as the popular Bahamian destinations of Bimini, Grand Bahama (Freeport), North Eleuthera, and the Abacos (Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay). The planes are 34-seat Saab 340B Plus aircraft.
