A car explosion rocked a Plantation neighborhood Wednesday night. Police were called around 7 p.m. after residents of Townhouses of Jacaranda, located in the 8100 block of Cleary Boulevard, reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing a plume of smoke coming from a parked car in the area.
According to police, the car was empty at the time, and there were no injuries. But they're not sure what set off the explosion or why.
At least one news outlet reported that remnants of an explosive device were found underneath the vehicle.

Plantation Police closed off off a large section of the community, and the Broward Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad and investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were called in.
At least one witness says that the red Toyota Corolla that exploded belongs to a taxi driver who works for a neighbor.
It's not immediately known if the car was targeted or it was a random attack.
Police are still investigating.
