Update: Police just announced that Parada has been charged with child neglect and taken into custody.

Last night around 10, Fort Lauderdale police patrol officer found Melanie Parada, a 36-year-old woman who has been missing since March 11, in the 1100 block of NE Tenth Avenue. A news release by the department says that Parada was in good physical condition.

Her legal condition, however, is not so good. Parada left behind an 8-year-old daughter, who was temporarily taken in by neighbors of Parada's apartment, near Las Olas Boulevard. The girl has since been living with grandparents.

It's apparent that Parada had a strained relationship with the uncle of her daughter, against whom she had sought a restraining order. The police news release offers no clue of Parada's reasons for disappearing but says investigators are considering filing charges against her for neglect.
