President-elect Barack Obama will be making plenty of appearances over the next few weeks, but one in particular has comic book fiends and political junkies combining forces . In Spiderman #583 (pictured right), released on Wednesday, Spidey receives a special guest appearance from the most popular superhero in the world right now, Obama himself.

The only place in Broward where you could have bought a copy -- Tate's Comics in Lauderhill -- sold out all 500 copies in under four hours. "This is a historic moment in Spiderman and in the real world," says JoAnn Minieri, a manger at Tate's.

The story revolves around Chameleon - one of Spiderman's oldest enemies - and his attempt to become President, replacing Obama. Not to spoil the ending, but Spiderman saves the day, and the costumed superhero and politician share a fist bump.

If you want to get your hands on one of these special books, good luck. A second printing of the comicbook is also sold out, and the publishers haven't even shipped them yet. Minieri says a third printing is scheduled for later this month. "Marvel loves to push the envelope," she says. "There have been a lot of presidents in comicbooks, but never anything like this."
