Convicted sex offender and kiddie porn collector Frank Lawrence was sentenced to eight years in prison today, stemming from charges that came about when a Palm Beach County librarian caught him checking out some naked dudes on the net and printing out the pictures.
Lawrence, 41, has been on probation since he was released from prison in 2010 after being convicted of possessing child pornography in 2009, and part of his probation conditions included him not being allowed to use a computer with internet access or look at things that are "relevant to his deviant behavior patterns."
That became a problem in April when a librarian at the Belle Grade Public Library strolled by a computer Lawrence was using and noticed there were some naked gentlemen the screen, according to his arrest affidavit.
The librarian told the cops that she's seen Lawrence perusing porn on the library's computers a few times and that he usually prints them out for some on-the-go viewing.
When the cops came to have a chat with Lawrence, he frantically tried to minimize all the open windows -- apparently not savvy to the "Windows logo+M" command -- and admitted he wasn't allowed to look at porn shortly after that.
Lawrence told the cops he'd actually used the library as a porn hub around six times and says that he usually throws away the pictures he prints from the web "later."
Police also noticed that he hadn't registered the email address he was using with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which landed him another probation violation.
According to the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office, Lawrence was sentenced to five years in prison for failing to properly register as a sex offender, followed by three years in prison for violating his probation.
