Casey Anthony defense attorney Cheney Mason is not facing a Florida Bar review after giving a celebratory middle-finger salute to the public shortly after the verdict was read Thursday.
The Associated Press had reported a self-described attorney from Coral Gables filing a complaint with the Florida Bar alleging that Mason had violated rules regarding "maintaining the integrity of the profession."
The only problem is, the "attorney," Jack Thompson, was permanently disbarred several years ago and was banned from submitting filings to the bar in 2008 by the Florida Supreme Court, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The AP has since withdrawn its story and issued a retraction.
Thompson is apparently such a doofus that there's an entire Wikipedia entry mostly dedicated to his bizarre actions.
The first nationally publicized stunt (of many) he engaged in was sending pictures of his driver's license -- with a picture of Batman taped on top of his -- as part of lobbying Broward County officials to block the sales of 2 Live Crew's As Nasty as They Wanna Be album, as well as NWA's Straight Outta Compton.
Thompson's methods led to articles such as "Legally Insane: A History of Jack Thompson's Antics," as well as "10 Great Moments in Jack Thompson's (Failed) Career."
And as you can see here, he still hasn't given up playing pretend lawyer.
Meanwhile, Mason -- an actual attorney -- can keep flipping people off until an actual complaint is filed.
