A grueling summer for the Broward Sheriff''s Office just got worse. The agency arrested one of its own this morning on charges he sexually exploited illegal immigrants. Here's the agency's news release:

A Broward Sheriff's Office deputy who disgraced his badge by preying on illegal residents was arrested Monday morning on a 14-court warrant for various offenses.

Deputy Jonathan Bleiweiss, 29, who's been with BSO for almost seven years, faces five counts of sexual battery in a position of control or authority, four counts of armed false imprisonment, four counts of battery and one count of stalking.

On April 23 at approximately 6:00 a.m., the adult male victim was waiting outside an apartment complex in Oakland Park for a ride to work when Dep. Jonathan Bleiweiss approached in a marked BSO patrol car and requested his identification. The victim told BSO Sex Crimes detectives that Dep. Bleiweiss placed him against the patrol unit and during the pat down placed his hand inside the victim's underwear and groped him.

Investigators said that during that encounter, Bleiweiss demanded the victim's cell phone number and proceeded to call and send him text messages. Similar sexual encounters continued until June.

Since the investigation was initiated in April, BSO detectives have documented several victims. The illicit sex acts surfaced when an employer of one of the victims came forward with the allegations. As a result, Fort Lauderdale PD was contacted by an attorney and then notified BSO's Sex Crimes Unit when they realized the incidents happened in Oakland Park.

The investigation continues. Anyone who may have been victimized by Jonathan Bleiweiss is urged to contact BSO Sex Crimes Detective Graciela Benito at 954-321-4249.

Bleiweiss is currently suspended without pay and being held without bond.
