Apparently Palm Beach County Sheriff's investigators decided people with skin problems didn't need thousands of oxycodone pills -- especially if they're dead.

That's what prompted 63-year-old Dr. Henry Blady -- a dermatologist -- to plead guilty this morning to attempted drug trafficking, a second-degree felony.

Blady became addicted to oxycodone after a back injury, according to his attorney, leading to his chosen method of painkiller acquisition -- using dead people as the middlemen.

Sheriff's investigators say Blady would write the oxycodone prescriptions for dead patients and pick them up at various Palm Beach County pharmacies himself.

Blady would tell the pharmacists he was picking up the pills for patients who couldn't make it there themselves for various reasons, according to court documents.

In the summer of 2009, Blady raked in a total of 4,000 oxycodone pills.

The kicker: Blady wasn't even licensed in the state to dispense prescription drugs.

As part of a plea agreement, Blady's conviction will not carry a felony designation once he finishes his five years of drug-offender probation.
