The craft beer bar known as The Brass Tap is expanding its franchise, targeting Florida --as well as states like Arizona, Texas and Ohio -- to grow. Its newest bar is set to open this summer in Boynton Beach, what will be the chain's 11th Florida location with several more "tapping soon" in cities like Doral, Tallahassee and St. Petersburg in the coming months.

Founded in 2007 in Wesley Chapel, Florida by Steve Slowey, Jeff Martin and Gary Bailey -- who also own six Beef O' Brady's franchises -- The Brass Tap is one of the nation's fastest growing craft beer bars. Just over a year after FSC Franchise Co. LLC acquired The Brass Tap, the beer bar chain has signed more than 30 franchise agreements across the country with new ground to cover in New York, Illinois and Michigan.

There are currently 14 Brass Tap locations, and one of the chain's most recent targets is Boynton Beach. The bar will occupy the former Shane's Rib Shack space off Congress Ave. It is currently the only Palm Beach County location after the close of the West Palm Beach franchise in City Place.

Cashing in on the imported microbrew and craft beer craze, Brass Tap's expansion is set to expand to double the number of locations by the end of 2014. Part of the plan means keeping things simple, with a limited food menu. In addition, the bar offers an equally limited amount of liquor and wine.

The beer pours freely, however. At any time you can choose form between 40 and 70 draft beers, plus up to 500 bottled beers priced between $4 to $10 each. About a third of the selection changes monthly, thanks to selections from more than 1,500 microbreweries across the nation.

The Boynton Beach location is currently hiring. To be considered, visit the company website at www.brasstapbeerbar.com, and click on the employment link.

The Brass Tap will open at 950 N. Congress Ave. in Boynton Beach. Visit the website, or find them on Facebook.
