If you're like us, your New Year's resolution was to get more exercise and drink more beer.

If those two goals sound like they're somewhat conflicting, think again..because we've found the most awesome of races to sign up for -- The Tap 'N' Run!

This 4K race is a healthy fun run with a twist...Instead of the usual (and quite boring) lemon/lime sports drink on the course, you'll run through several "beer chug" stations where you'll be served a 5-6 ounce "chug" of beer along the course.

You'll also start the race with a "chug" of beer, and finish with a full-sized 12 ounce brewsky to reward your hard work at the after-party at America's Backyard, where an awards ceremony will be held with prizes for fastest runner, best belcher, best costume, and best moustache (both real and fake).

The event is run by Louisville, Kentucky-based Jam Active. Tap 'N' Run started last year, with nearly a dozen races held in cities like Louisville, Atlanta, and St. Louis in 2012, with the goals of nationwide expansion in 2013 and beyond.

Jam Active event planner Michael Clemons explained why the company decided to grace Fort Lauderdale with its beer-on-the-run race. "We love the South Florida atmosphere. There are a lot of runners and people interested in staying fit -- plus there's a great party scene. Our race combines both worlds. Besides, it's 20 degrees in Louisville right now, and we could use some of your warm weather."

Clemons also added that although there's an option for you to be timed, non-runners are invited to head out and just enjoy the day!  "Take as long as you want on the course or run for speed. It's all good."

The Tap 'N' Run start time is 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, with the starting line on SW 4th Avenue and SW 2nd Street, in downtown Fort Lauderdale (near Riverwalk).

The entry fee is is $47 per person until January 6, when the price goes up to $52. Entry fee includes the race, a t-shirt, the beer, entrance to the America's Backyard after-party, and a finisher's medal that doubles as a bottle opener (we'd run this race just for that). Online registration closes January 10.

After that date, late entries will be accepted (as available) at the packet pickup, held at Runner's Depot (SouthPort Plaza, 1489-1E SE 17th Street Causeway, Fort Lauderdale) on Friday, January 11 from 3 - 7 p.m. or at America's Backyard on saturday, January 12 from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
