In the midst of Bimini Boatyard's 25th-anniversary celebration (and right before a lucrative weekend), the Fort Lauderdale waterfront staple is closed temporarily due to a fire.

According to CBS Miami, the fire broke out around lunchtime yesterday.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue initially responded to a call about a boat fire at the dock behind Bimini Boatyard but upon arrival confirmed that the two-alarm fire was located in the restaurant's kitchen. Bimini Boatyard was evacuated and fire rescue was able to put out the fire, which spread into BBY's ventilation system.

Although no one was hurt in the incident, the restaurant sustained damages and is currently closed for repairs. The restaurant posted an announcement on its Facebook page, thanking "Fort Lauderdale Fire Department for quickly extinguishing the small fire that occurred on our property this morning."

An employee of the restaurant confirmed that the "small kitchen fire" was contained and that no employees or guests were near the fire or in danger. The restaurant will remain closed for repairs for the weekend. Bimini Boatyard is taking reservations for Wednesday, July 30, which is when it's expected to reopen.
