Who doesn't love Michelle Bernstein?

Before becoming a national phenomenon with frequent stints on Top Chef, the James Beard award-winning toque got her start right here in South Florida in the 1990s by making beautiful food that, as she points out, "isn't heavy handed or unnecessarily complicated."

The chef herself says that a successful dish is "all about the amazing ingredients I've loved most of my life, layered flavors, and simplicity."

The key to her gorgeous dishes? "I cook food I love and believe that love translates to the diners."

While we're sure you've got the "love" part down, there are still techniques that must be learned, so why not learn them from the award-winning (and utterly adorable) chef herself?

On Thursday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m., Michelle Bernstein is hosting a cooking class and culinary demonstration at the Publix at Polo Club Shops in Boca Raton (5050 Champion Blvd.), as part of Publix Apron's Cooking School series.

In this class, Bernstein will show you how to make pan con tomate; clams in garlicky chorizo broth; fried calamari with coconut chile sauce; and citrus-scented cinnamon torrejas. Materials will be provided -- just bring the love!

The class is $60 per person. Reserve a spot by calling 561-994-4883.
