The terrible twos are known to be the worst when it comes to humans.
Who among us hasn't been forced to listen to a two-year-old's tantrum about dropping a doughnut or some other seemingly life or death toddler catastrophe?
It's the worst.
When it comes to upscale grocery chains, however, turning two is a much less stressful occasion. The one similarity? Cake and goodies for everyone.
This weekend Whole Foods Market in Pembroke Pines is celebrating its second anniversary with three days of fun -- not tiresome -- activities for the family, including birthday cake.

Starting on Friday and going through Sunday, the store is hosting a number of events to show customer appreciation.
On Friday, March 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, the store is hosting an International Beer & Bites Festival. For a $10 donation to Whole Planet Foundation, beer lovers and foodies can sample beer and food from around the world on the patio.
"We will have over 25 beers from around the world for guests to taste," says Garvin. "Each guest will have the choice of five food pairings they'd like from our food stations. We'll have a huge assortment of hand-held bites."
Bites will include BBQ guava chicken skewers, Asian ginger lo mein, empanadas, shrimp skewers, pretzel bites, plenty of vegan options, and desserts, like macarons and chocolate covered bananas.
Live music and a photo booth will be onsite and first 25 guests will receive a glass pilsner tasting glass. Guests must be over 21 to attend. Registration is required.
On Saturday, the store is hosting a number of festivities, including:
- Freshly roasted pan con lechon for $5 per person, from noon to 2 p.m.
- Kids Club: Build Your Own Brownie Bar for $2 per person, from 2 to 3 p.m. Registration is required.
- Painting Fiesta on the Patio benefiting Whole Planet Foundation for $20 per person from 3 to 5 p.m. Space is limited; book as soon as possible.
- Free birthday cake at the bakery will be available at 5 p.m.
On Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a Sunday Mimosa Brunch is taking place on the patio
For a $12 donation per person to Whole Planet Foundation, it features live music and a buffet brunch with mimosas, Allegro Coffee, fresh fruit, sprouted breads, oatmeal, French toast, eggs, and tofu Scramble.
"There is going to be a lot of food on the menu," says Garvin. "Vegans welcome!"
Many of the individual events are directly benefiting Whole Planet Foundation, an organization attempting to alleviate poverty through microcredit in communities around the world that supply Whole Foods Market stores with products.
"Currently Whole Planet Foundation is supporting 330, 272 microentrepreneurs in 59 different countries around the world," says Whole Foods Market Pembroke Pines marketing team leader Jennifer Garvin.
