South Florida's Best Eats and Drink This Week: National Oysters Day, Tap Takeovers, and More

Around and around we go; today is the start to yet another lovely workweek. Hopefully, you have a bit of a spring in your step from some indulgent weekend activities. If not, don't fret; there are still plenty of events to keep you busy through your working days. Whether you're looking to watch a movie with the family under the moon, want to attend a full moon party, or go to a tap takeover, there's something to do in Broward and Palm Beach counties this week.

Monday

Rock-N-Yoga
Every Monday, Undergrounds Coffeehaus features its Rock-N-Yoga from 6 to 7 p.m. for just $10 per person. All levels of experience are invited to participate. Expect plenty of coffee, massage oils, music, laughter, and the very friendly vibe that Undergrounds staff and regulars are known for.

Kegs and Cultures at Whole Foods Fort Lauderdale
If you love cheese and beer, you can celebrate both on from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, March 30 with a special beer and cheese pairing featuring Funky Buddha Brewery at the Whole Foods in Fort Lauderdale for just $10 per person.  Can't make it this month? Don't worry: once each month through July, cheesemongers from Whole Foods Market and beer experts from Funky Buddha Brewery will team up to pair beer and cheese. Half of proceeds of the event will benefit Whole Planet Foundation. Space is limited to the first 20 customers ages 21 and up. Stone Brewing Tap Takeover at Brass Tap
Head to the Brass Tap in Boynton Beach for a day-long Stone Brewing tap takeover. The specialty beer release includes Stone's Smoked Porter with vanilla beans, Matt's Burning Rosids imperial smoked saison, Vertical Epic ale, Arrogant Bastard aged in bourbon barrels, and 2013 Double Bastard ale.

Celebrate National Oysters on the Half Shell Day
Whether you love them raw, fried, or on the half shell, oysters can provide you with a host of health benefits, among them, high levels of heart- and brain-boosting omega-3 fatty acids and enough zinc (that same aphrodisiac mineral) to keep your mojo flowing all night. If you like oysters, and all their health benefits, celebrate this week on Tuesday, March 31, a.k.a. National Oyster on the Half Shell Day. Start with Wild Sea Oyster Bar & Grille, where James Beard acknowledged chef Toby Joseph will offer all-day oyster special featuring seven unique varieties of East and West Coast oysters each served with cocktail sauce for a $1 each. Or head to 3030 Ocean, Fort Lauderdale’s critically-acclaimed oceanfront dining destination will be toasting National Oyster on the Half Shell Day with Sebastian Salts oysters (half dozen $15 / one dozen $29). Last, Sea Level Restaurant + Ocean Bar, also located at the Marriott’s Harbor Beach Resort and Spa, will be serving up grilled oysters with black garlic compound butter and grilled bread (half dozen $12 / dozen $20). And, at The Rusty Hooky Tavern in Pompano, they are serving $1 oysters all night long.

Family Movie Night at Whole Foods Wellington
Whole Foods Market in Wellington will host a Family Movie Night "Under the Stars" on March 31 in the store parking lot, starting at 7 p.m. On an 18-foot inflatable movie screen, guests will enjoy a screening of Disneynature: Earth, a movie suitable for all ages. Food and drinks will be sold at a minimal cost to guests, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Whole Foods Market's Whole Planet Foundation, which provides grants to microfinance institutions in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East (who in turn develop and offer loan programs, training, and other financial services to the self-employed poor). The event is free. 

Thursday

Riverwalk Run Race Party
This week, the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale will celebrate 15 years of community philanthropy with the Riverwalk Run Race Party. On Thursday, the league will kick off its 15th annual Riverwalk Run with the Riverwalk Run Race Party on Thursday, April 2 at 6 p.m. with a nautical-themed celebration at Fort Lauderdale's waterfront restaurant, Bimini Boatyard Bar & Grill. Guests can enjoy Caribbean-style fare while sipping on specialty cocktails, beer, and wine. Then, spend the night shopping at a one-of-a-kind silent auction items, mingling with friends, or possibly making new ones. Each year, over 1,200 participants take part in the Riverwalk Run to raise funds for the Junior League of Greater Fort community projects. In its 14-year history, the Riverwalk Run has raised over $750,000 which has directly benefited the Greater Fort Lauderdale community. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. The silent auction closes at 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $45 per person. The Run Race Party will take place at Bimini Boatyard Bar & Grille. Visit riverwalkrun.com.
