Happy Earth Day. The annual celebration of the planet which houses not only us, but every known species to mankind, started on April 22, 1970 by Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. The celebration is now global, with over a billion people participating in and planning events and activities that strive to educate everyone in how precious and fragile our only home is.

This is a good day to get involved, and many companies make it as easy as buying lunch to help the planet. Here are a few restaurants celebrating today.
Blaze Pizza
Stop into any Blaze Pizza today, April 22 and receive a free reusable stainless steel straw with any drink purchase. Here's the best part of these straws (and a litle tip). Keep them in the freezer when you're not using them so that each sip you have from your drink will be icy cold. They're especially great for frozen cocktail drinks.

Apura Juicery & Coffehouse
Boca Raton's Apura is offering a free cold-pressed juice shot. Just check in on their Facebook page, using hashtags #Apura #FreeShot #EarthDay.

Chipotle
On Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, all South Florida Chipotle Mexican Grills will collectively raise $10,000 for Localecopia Inc., a Florida-based nonprofit organization focused on bringing together businesses, farmers and educators for the purposes of lessening our carbon footprint by supporting local product consumption and helping individuals achieve sustainable business practices. To help, just eat at your local Chipotle today between noon and 8 p.m., and a portion of your purchase will go to Localecopia.
