The 2015 football season is almost here, and that means Himmarshee Public House is gearing up for its annual Miami Dolphins-themed block party.

On Sunday, September 13, the downtown Fort Lauderdale bar and restaurant will host what it's calling South Florida’s largest season kickoff viewing block party, giving residents and Miami Dolphins fans a proper way to welcome the long-awaited season-opening game.

Himmarshee Public House will take over SW Second Avenue all day with a tailgate-style bash as the Miami Dolphins take on the Washington Redskins starting at 1 p.m. The block party will offer plenty of games; specialty football-themed dishes; plenty of local, ice-cold beer; contests; and giveaways.

Oh, and football. As with years past, the game will be displayed for all to see on a 16-foot LED screen at the end of SW Second Street while patrons play games like cornhole as they rock out to music by DJ Mark Gallo.

During the event, fans can booze it up with the best of them at any of the outdoor beer tents manned by local breweries. For just $5, purchase a beer ticket to drink exclusive beers from South Florida breweries, including Concrete Beach, Funky Buddha, and Saltwater. Signature cocktails featuring Bean Apple and Effen vodka will also be available.

As for eats: Chow down at the restaurant's outdoor street barbecue pit, where you'll find a variety of beer-infused barbecue dishes like pulled-pork sliders, regular sliders, hot dogs, and burgers. Menu items are à la carte, and the restaurant's full brunch menu will be available inside the main dining room.

The block party goes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, September 13. The event is free and open to the public. Himmarshee Public House is located at 201 SW Second St., Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-616-5275, or visit facebook.com/publichouseftl.
