West Palm Beach indie rockers Rivers may have reached a new level of maturity, but that won't stop them from rockin' the night away with a bunch of Kids in celebration of their latest release, Wide Eyes. "The first EP we were throwing as many darts as we could and waited to see what hit," singer-songwriter and guitarist Danny Brunjes told New Times earlier this year. "Our songwriting evolution has taken a stronger form." Check out the grownup sounds of Brunjes and his crew at Respectable Street.

Respectable Street's 28th Anniversary Block Party
No other horror punk crew represents the concept of longevity better than the Misfits. As broken down in a recent New Times piece, the long-running act has included bassist and singer Jerry Only since 1977, but now also features his son Jerry Only II on guitar. Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, the younger brother of the elder Only, was the band's guitarist on and off for a decade. So when you think about it, it only makes sense that the Misfits help celebrate 28 years of live tuneage and rockin' bashes in West Palm Beach at Respectable Street's 28th Anniversary Block Party.

With the Misfits, Sweet Bronco, Ethan Parker Band, Astari Nite, Smells Like Grunge, Johnny Raincloud, Modernage, Boxwood, Break the Hero, Riot Agents, Chaucer, Hypoluxo, Golden Gun, Killmama, Deaf Poets, Nation of Decay, Shotgun Betty, the Alleys, the Muggles, the Drip Effect, Riot Act, Que Lastima, the Ruins, OSF, Howling Winds, Stratolites, Sur Back, and Dirty Sonic. Saturday, August 29, 8 p.m. Respectable Street, 518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach; 561-832-9999; respectablestreet.com. Admission is free.
