Homebrew Day
So you like to drink all the wonderful and diverse beers that are available today? Why not up your beer experience by learning how to brew beer yourself at home during the aptly named Learn to Homebrew Day, an event-centered day established 16 years ago by the American Homebrewers Association? For those wanting some hands-on experience with friendly and veteran homebrewers, head over to BX Beer Depot (2964 Second Ave. N, Lake Worth) this Saturday, November 7, starting around 11 a.m., where several local homebrewers of varying levels of experience will be brewing batches of beer in the Depot's backyard. "This event is free to the public, so feel free to invite friends and family to come and witness the brewing process," Sally Parsons, owner of BX, told me. "Even if you've been brewing for years or you've just barely started your first batch, this event is perfect for you. There is always something to learn from talking to homebrewers. A few BX employees will be walking around to help with the education about processes and ingredients. Come thirsty for knowledge about beer."

Delray Beach Seafood Fest
Delray’s fourth-annual Delray Beach Wine & Seafood Festival will be happening this weekend with more than 100 exhibitors in downtown Delray Beach (Atlantic Avenue from the Intracoastal to Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach). The tasty event will include two wine gardens, a Cupcake Vineyards Traveling Tour, music, and seafood from various local restaurants. The festival not only takes place Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. but on Saturday as well until 10 p.m. Admission is free, but food and drink is not. Visit DBWineAndSeafood.com.
Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival
This Sunday, head over to Markham Park (16001 W. State Road 84, Sunrise) for what claims to be the largest Caribbean food festival in the country. Now in its 14th year, the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival will feature live music, chef competitions, and — of course — more than 30 vendors dishing up every incarnation of jerk imaginable, from jerk chicken and jerk lobster to jerk ice cream. All day, chef Karl Kissner will put his skills and recipes to the test in the Publix Jerk Cook-Off Pavilion for your tasting pleasure. Cooking demonstrations to help hone your own skills will take place in the Grace Kitchen. If all you care about is eating, the food court is serving all you can eat and more. This year’s musical performances include reggae legends Third World joined by Barrington Levy, Christopher Martin, Spred the Dub, and Germany’s Gentleman.
