South Florida's Eight Best Concerts This Week

Experience Hendrix
Nothing will ever compare to seeing Jimi Hendrix murder a six-string live in action, but Experience Hendrix — a traveling revue that plays all the classic Hendrix cuts in an homage to a still-larger-than-life American legend — sure does come close to it. Featuring fellow guitar heros Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eric Johnson, and Dweezil Zappa, the current troupe has added bassist Billy Cox — the only surviving member of Hendrix's three main bands — to its lineup. Do yourself a favor and don't miss it.

Iron Maiden
Though "metal" — as pointed out by New Times — "now signifies a net wide enough to include something for just about everyone, there's one thing almost all metal fans agree upon: Iron Maiden is still the titan against which all others are to be measured." Pay your respects to the kings of metal — and while you're at it, make a pit stop at drummer (and South Florida resident) Nicko McBrain's barbecue restaurant, Rock N Roll Ribs in Coral Springs — this week at the BB&T Center.

Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy has come a long way since their Take This to Your Grave days, but the Chi-Town rockers will forever be known as the band that started the emo-rock movement. Riverwalk Blues and Music Festival
"I sing soul," blues singer Johnny Rawls recently told New Times. "I stand out because I do original songs that have a good beat to them. It’s a different side to the blues. I take a lot of time and effort to write songs so they don't sound like they were just thrown together. In order to stand out, you have to write great songs." Put It Aside's How Soon You Forget... Release Show
Rage until your eardrums explode with Put It Aside as the "straightforward, hardcore straightedge band with '90s youth crew influence" celebrates the release of their latest record, How Soon You Forget... at Jump the Shark. As guitarist Jared Hutcherson told New Times: "This band and this record are things we wanted to do because we all love hardcore and being straightedge, and nothing anyone could say could make us feel otherwise." Sounds like a party to us.
