Denzel Curry, Yung Simmie, and Three More South Florida Rappers on How They Plan to Celebrate 4/20

The possession and recreational consumption of marijuana is still illegal in the state of Florida, but behind closed doors, seeping from cracked car windows, and wafting over neighborhood alleyways, a certain dank aroma tells a different story.

In honor of 4/20, the unofficial day of marijuana appreciation, we spoke with five of our favorite South Florida rappers on how they plan to celebrate today's high holiday.

Denzel Curry
We already know Denzel Curry will be rolling loud this 4/20, and we’re not talking about his music. We're not sure if it's a fog machine or good blaze, but there's almost always a smoke screen surrounding Carol City’s own before he hits the stage. Last year, Curry couldn’t even remember what he did for 4/20 because he was so lost in the clouds. But this year, he says, he plans on setting the smoke detectors off with the homies before he hits the stage in Atlanta, continuing on his Ult Experience Tour. Right before the beat drops, expect a fresh smell of lemon to hit your nostrils. It could be Super Lemon Haze or Lemon Pledge, the rapper tells us.


Prezidential P
“4/20 is really every day for me and Da Camp. We may or may not light daily, so when the actual day comes around, we try to travel out and go somewhere mad weed-friendly, like California, Seattle, or Denver,” says Prez P. Last year, he spent the day higher than the sky at High Times Cannabis Cup in Denver, worry-free of the cops in Miami. This year is just another day for him and the homies. “I'll be high and doing my music thang for 4/20. I'm recording new joints in Denver and hitting the dispensary,” says Prez P.


Yung Simmie
If your O.G. Kush doesn’t have that stank smell, Yung Simmie isn’t hitting it. The “Smoke With Me Rapper” reminds us all that your chick wants to hit his stash this April 20, and he just might let her. While getting lit is an everyday thing for Simmie, he does celebrate the occasion every year with a special performance. This year, he’s having a smoke party with DJ Drama and Chevy Woods at the Beacham in Orlando, and we’re all invited. “I suggest you get your 28-gram blunts ready,” says Simmie.



Drew Swace
Smoking dope is one of Miramar rapper Drew Swace's favorite hobbies, and he wrote a song about it last 4/20 to prove it. "4/20 is one of my top-five holidays," says Swace. "Last year, I dropped a banger, chilled with my homies, ate mad food, and did drugs," he says. This year, he plans on smoking until he's borderline gone and most likely dropping another celebratory track. If you smell O.G. Kush or Sour Diesel driving around Huntington Park, it may be Drew Swace, you never know.


Babatunde
Don’t bring cigarellos or dutches to smoke sessions with Babatunde, because you might just get kicked out of the car. “I have to make sure it's grabba leaves because I feel offended when friends bring anything else,” says Babatunde. The Miami rapper plans on setting his car on fire this year and hopefully finishing off his bet from last year. “Last year on 4/20, I challenged myself to blazing a whole seven [blunts] but failed after the third,” says Babatunde. Smoking yourself into a coma may be ideal for most rappers, but we don’t recommend it.
