Hello Kitty, Running for President, Comes to Boca Raton

Hello Kitty is running for president, and she is touring now across the country. During the weekend her "vehicle of cuteness," the Hello Kitty Café Truck, made its first stop in South Florida, parking at the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton.

Dozens of hungry constituents lined up beside the bright-pink mobile eatery to order "Hello Kitty for President" frosted cookies, rainbow macarons, and minicakes.

To wash all that sweetness down, customers — ahem, voters — also bought water bottles shaped like hair bows.

Reps for Sanrio, the brand behind Hello Kitty, told New Times the mission behind this new campaign is to spread happiness and fun across the nation through yummy goodies and beverages inspired by the famous feline character.

Though the popular café truck has existed since 2014, this recent appearance at the Town Center Mall was part of its debut in the Sunshine State. 

"This is the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck’s first tour of Florida. After Miami, it will visit Orlando [and has] made recent stops to Tampa and Boca," said Racine Diaz, a publicist for the company.

If you'd like to support Hello Kitty in her run for president or would just like to check out all the kawaii things she and her representatives have to offer, the café truck is set to make its next stop at Dadeland Mall (near the fountain by the main entrance) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The specially designed Hello Kitty for President cookie is limited to 50 per stop. Guests who get to purchase the special treat will also receive a free bumper sticker.
