  • Tap 42

    Tap 42

1411 S. Andrews Ave. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
    954-463-4900

http://www.tap42.com Set in a sprawling indoor and outdoor space with plenty of parking, Tap 42 is named for the number of craft beers available on tap. Coveted brews such as Left Hand Milk Stout sell out fast at this mecca for beer geeks. The bar also features eight liquor pulls and a handful of bourbon cocktails, should beer not serve a strong enough buzz. Thoughtful design details and an open space makes for a stylish bar scene. Texaco signs and old neon serve as backdrops against mismatched salvaged wood walls, Because of its minimalist decor, Tap 42 is often louder than the average restaurant. Burgers are the safe bet on the menu, with the rest hit and miss. A Brussels sprout side arrives still crunchy. A pork belly appetizer plates under salted, lacking flavor. For now, Tap 42 remains a drinking destination, though a lovely one at that. More >>

    TAP Global Beer Collection

14813 Lyons Road Delray Beach, FL 33446
    561-270-3839

http://tapgbc.com Delray Marketplace -- the group of shops which houses the Frank Theaters Cinebowl, a Shula Burger, and other shops and eateries like Cabo Flats Cantina and Tequila Bar -- now contains a World of Beer-esque beer destination in TAP Global Beer Collection. With loads of wood chairs, plus orange tones and slate, the place has an inviting, almost lodge-like feel, though without the antlers and panelling. Massive doors expand the main bar space into an outdoor patio complete with lounge furniture and a fire pit. Though beer is the centerpiece, it's followed closely with an emphasis on sports. Consider this a sports bar for the craft beer connoisseur. More >>

  • Tequesta Brewing Co.

    Tequesta Brewing Co.

    287 S. U.S. 1 Jupiter, FL 33469
    561-745-5000

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tequesta-Brewing-Co/111644658847904 The Tequesta Brewing Co. is a perfect mixture of old and new. The always-packed Jupiter tap room sports modern flourishes like exposed metal rafters and dark-blue lighting that makes the stainless-steel brewing vessels visible from the bar look like UFOs about to take flight. Complementing that is vintage-style black-and-white photography and a 100-year-old bar that looks like it was taken straight out of a German bier garden. TBC's beers are all topnotch, from the smooth and drinkable Gnarly Barley to the heavy-hitting Double IPA injected with nitrogen. But the one that best represents owner Matt Webster's ability to toe that contemporary/classical divide is Der Chancellor, a German-style Kölsch that pours a beautiful shade of pale gold. In authentic fashion, this light-bodied lager is well-carbonated, with an almost champagne-like finish. But where Webster introduces a bit of good ol' American ingenuity is in the hops, a heady dose that's slightly bitter but extremely aromatic. The result is a brew that demands another round — and one you can appreciate no matter how old- (or new-)school a beer drinker you are. More >>

  • Titanic Brewery and Restaurant

    Titanic Brewery and Restaurant

5813 Ponce de Leon Blvd. Coral Gables, FL 33146
    305-668-1742

http://www.titanicbrewery.com This brewpub across the way from the University of Miami is owned by beer lover Kevin Rusk, who makes it a point to pour good, homemade suds to accompany great live music. Since the place opened in the Nineties, the menu hasn't changed an iota. The seasonal brews are always a delight: The Triple Screw is a fail-safe standby, and the guest-starring Woodchuck cider tastes like frothy heaven. Generously sized empanada appetizers boast tasty meat interiors and flaky pastry exteriors. Other standouts include crawfish-and-andouille bisque, and steamed mussels "fra diablo." On a recent visit, the steerage skirt steak sandwich came dangerously rare in the middle, but the Santa Fe chicken salad, with creamy garlic dill dressing, was crunchy and delicious. Dinner entrée prices top out at $17.95, which will nab you either a rib eye steak or soft-shell crabs, and $14.95 for shrimp étoufée is a steal. Rotating rock bands and slurring coeds are regular fixtures. The Sunday night karaoke delivers a hearty dose of Journey and Sublime. More >>
