http://www.chillwinelounge.com Fort Lauderdale's independent Gateway movie theater might not be able to boast chef-prepared foods deliverable to high-back leather recliners like at the big mega-chain multiplex, but it's now possible to enjoy a specialty glass of wine or craft beer before walking over to your first-run indie flick. That's thanks to Chill Wine Lounge, the “deco glam” watering hole located next door to Gateway that opened in December 2012. Sure, the ultramodern chrome accents, over-the-top neon purple lighting, and floral motifs all detract a little from the gorgeous terrazzo flooring and generous wine and craft-beer menu (and is an iPad really necessary to take our drink orders when the bar is literally three feet away?) -- but who cares? This neighborhood spot is the perfect place to begin your night out to the movies or end an evening with great drinks. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
All the flashy, thumping clubs that fill our cities are enough to make bargoers nostalgic for the watering holes of bygone days -- the kind in the old Westerns, where folks can drink, dance, and shoot a game of pool. For the city-dwelling cowpokes, there's Chit Chat's Lounge. Chit Chat's is a clean, classic, laid-back spot. Shoot a game of eight ball, hit the dance floor, or kick back and watch one of the many high-definition TVs. And don't be afraid to let a big "Yeehaw!" slip out. Christie's in Davie is an unfussy pub. The bar is lined with tin cups and Irish knickknacks, straight from the motherland. The bartender is always ready to concoct a new drink to please customers. The one-room bar boasts a few staples: jukebox, videogames, a big-screen television to watch baseball or football. The regulars come from their own bartending jobs, ready to relax and have a drink among friends. "In the biz" specials are always in place; just make sure to mention it, and have an ID ready. http://www.christophersnightclub.com Just over the bridge off Oakland Park Boulevard is Christopher's, a landmark within Fort Lauderdale's ever-changing nightlife scene. Difficult to miss with its fluorescent sign, Christopher's is popular among the over-50 crowd. Wooden pillars and marble trimmings adorn the room, with an interior reminiscent of a cruise-ship disco or a hotel lounge. Although there is a designated dance floor, this lively crowd will strut its stuff just about anywhere – even on the bar top. Women drink free on several nights of the week, and it's safe to say they rarely open their wallets at this bar. Open since 1977, Christopher's is a staple venue in the adult dating scene. http://www.churchillspub.com Miami is sorely lacking in decent rock clubs, so Churchill's is home to many a scruffy punker who is too real for South Beach. A pair of pool tables, a large room for bands, and a sizable outdoor patio help house the mainland rock faithful. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
Buy a stogie, smoke a stogie, wash it down with a beer or a glass of wine, shoot pool, play dominoes, strategize on the chess board, watch the game, or just chill: It's your choice at the Cigar Bar. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
http://www.circusbar.com Let's get one thing straight up front: Clowns are fucking creepy. And circuses are mostly filled with sanctioned animal abuse and freaks who don't believe in gravity (until it hits them in the face). But not all big tops are bad. The Circus Sports Bar and Grill in Pompano has a fantastic collection of clowns and party animals sitting on both sides of the old wooden bar every night. These Ringling-worthy souls won't jump through fire on command or crowd into a tiny car with a bunch of men in makeup (well, maybe after a few drinks). But most of the neighborhood men and women who've been coming here since the '70s will buy a stranger a round and sit around shooting the shit. There's no bearded lady or tight rope, but there are enough pictures of clowns to scare all the children in Florida twice over. Clown paintings, clown drawings, clown sculptures, even a stained-glass clown. Luckily, the friendly faces (and cheap drinks) more than make up for the eerie setting. Plus, it doesn't smell like elephant shit. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
http://www.bigtimerestaurants.com An award-winning wine list, dry aged steaks and dense pasta dishes make for a gluttonous affair at this Big Time Restaurant Group-owned bar and grill. Brought to you by the same creators of City Oyster, Grease Burger Bar, Big City Tavern and Rocco's Tacos, City Cellar's main draws are a variety of crafty salads like the pan-fried green tomatoes and From-the-Hearth pizzas like the Pizza Salsicce made with sweet fennel sausage, caramelized onion, tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella. A daily 4 to 7 p.m. happy hour with half-priced appetizers, cocktails, wine and beer is served at the bar only. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
In the back of a strip mall on Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach is the City Pub, an enormous bar in which to catch some live music or take in some interesting conversations with the locals. The dimly lit bar is smoky and filled with an older crowd sipping scotch and whiskey. An enormous bar fills up the center of the room, and a cozy stage takes up a corner opposite a large wooden dance floor surrounded by booths. Although simple in décor, the bar gets its character from the patrons and folks behind the bar. The laid-back City Pub may not be a destination point for most, but it sure is a "just one more drink before we go" kind of place. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
http://www.thecloud9online.com Cloud 9 is lesbian hangout that's also the kind of place you turn to for good conversation -- and when you're in need of a stripper pole. The understated interior is disguised by a generically painted/decorated exterior that might lead many a passerby to drive on, ignorant of the genial friendliness inside... And of the amateur strip contests like Dare 2 Bare. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
Over the years, Club Boca has become a staple venue for partyhoppers to get their dance on till the late hours of the night. The rather large club is housed in an unassuming building on the corner of Palmetto Park road in the heart of Boca Raton. Inside, the décor is a mix of modern and chic stylings, with a hint of an industrial feel. A large wooden dance floor lit up by disco lights and neon fills up the center of the room. Metal poles are scattered throughout the club, and go-go dancers in corsets can be seen grinding against them. The dual-level club has no shortage of seating, from plush white couches to an area overlooking the dance floor. From gothic fetish happenings to rave nights, there is no shortage in event variety at this venue. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Club-Cinema/104399369595816 Our inaccessible geography aside, one major reason bands have forsaken us is our preponderance of pathetic venues with nasty bathrooms, bad sound, no parking, and just a general all-around malaise. Part of the problem is that few live music venues were designed as such — believe it or not, we've had everything from Cuban restaurants to Winn-Dixies doubling as rock-concert rooms. Naturally, like everything else in South Florida, Club Cinema is housed in a strip mall... in Lighthouse Point. But inside, the swankier-than-thou feel echoes famous rooms like the Fillmore. The lighting, the design, and the well-placed bars all signify class and attention to detail. Now, in these very pages, we've dismantled local politicians and exposed Club Cinema as a business that's very likely more mobbed-up than a Godfather-Goodfellasmarathon. But what the heck — if that's what it takes to make audiences feel like they're watching a show in a real goddamned city, we'll take it. http://www.rooftopresort.com This lifestyle-nudist and swingers club on the roof of an adult themed resort offers naked party goers the chance to dance the night away. The BYOB club offers a slew of fetish, theme, and zodiac events, and club patrons even get access to the "playrooms" and sauna. To top it all off, Eden has retractable roof and climate control to ensure it's never too cold for a good time. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
http://www.clubeuforia.com This mostly hip-hop club in downtown Miami caters to the Hispanic party-animal crowd, though all people are welcome. The dress code is strictly enforced, however, so no shorts or hats. Also no credit cards; this place is cash only. Stay tuned to the club's Facebook and Twitter pages for weekly specials involving free entrance and complimentary bottles. Groups are encouraged to call for reservations. This Himmarshee Village dance club filters out underdressed clubbers at its velvet rope and celebrates big spenders at the VIP lounges inside of its white interior. Club Euro's musical format is primarily hip-hop and dance, but DJs mix in a good dose of Caribbean music too, especially on Friday nights. The general-entry crowd at Club Euro will find an energetic dance floor in the main room, plenty of seating in the smoker's lounge, and a separate, darker back bar with great sound and little pretension. VIP clubbers gain access to comfortable seating areas, a separate bar, and a cabana-style seating area, all of which surround -- and overlook -- the club's main dance floor. http://www.clubhedonism.com This European-style club - that means nudity is optional, not mandatory - caters heavily to adventurous couples and single women (single men are welcome on Fridays, one of the two nights Club Hedonism is open each week). There are plenty of amenities here, including gourmet buffets, pool tables, play areas of varying levels of privacy, and, each weekend, some kind of titillating and funny event, like "MILF Night" and the "Luscious Legs Party." Entrance is granted only to members - prices vary, but couples can pay $20 for a monthlong trial period (single men must pay $50; single women can only get a yearlong membership for a ridiculously inexpensive $20). Voted the cleanest on-premise club of its kind in the area, the staff is friendly, the website informative, and the guidelines conducive to privacy and adventure - meaning it earns its reputation as Fort Lauderdale's premier swingers' club and keeps it classy.
