Yard House

Yard House

The chain restaurant from California, named for the yard-high glass originally created to serve stagecoach drivers, spurts more than 200 beers on tap - the main draw.
Whiskey Blue

Stratford's Bar

Stratford's Bar

Good news for the budget-conscious: Draft beers are always $1.75, and during happy hour, they're $1.25.

  • Blue Martini Fort Lauderdale

    Blue Martini Fort Lauderdale

2432 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
    954-653-2583

http://www.bluemartinilounge.com Part of a chain with outposts around the state and in Vegas, Blue Martini is known as a pickup joint for the middle-age set. Gold-diggers and diggees are lovingly tended to by beautiful Barbie-doll waitresses in blue corsets and flat-ironed hair. Adding to the vapid factor is the fact that this high-end martini bar with valet parking makes its home … in the Galleria shopping mall! Relatively soulless, even by South Florida standards, Blue Martini has drinks called "The Skinny Bitch" and "The Palm Beacher." But still, it packs a crowd (even when they charge a cover!); it gets loud and busy, especially on weekends. Big cigar-chomping spenders love this place (Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein was a regular) and it shows. The menu is slim but fancy (lobster tacos, anyone?) • Bluster Bar

    Bluster Bar

    115 N. 21st Ave. Hollywood, FL 33020
    954-374-8165

White couches provide luxurious comfy seating opposite the bar and VIP area; white fabric stretches along the ceiling and drapes down the walls. Paper lanterns dangle throughout, illuminating the dim nightclub. A mid-20s to 30s crowd occupies the dance floor, grinding up against one another to the DJ's beat. • Boardwalk

    Boardwalk

1721 N. Andrews Ave. Lauderdale Lakes, FL 33311
    954-463-6969

http://www.boardwalkbarxxx.com Boardwalk male dance club's four platforms feature men in skintight briefs and boots or sneakers undulating to club versions of Top 40 mixes. The dancers range from svelte boyish men who can do dead-on "Single Ladies" impersonations to beefy dudes who can hold the room's attention just by marching and flexing. Despite the sexual energy floating around, the club's vibe is that of a light-spirited Wilton Manors hangout. Drag queen MC Krystal K is a stunning female form. She hosts the night with humor and performs occasional lip-synch numbers to great applause. The stylish outside restaurant and bar, Beefcake's Grill, serves burgers, wings, chicken wraps, and other bar fare as well as saucily named frozen drinks like the Peppermint Pecker and the Screaming Orgasm for $10 a pop -- two-for-one with entrée purchase. Look out for Wednesday night's "New Meat" amateur night and occasional visits from porn stars. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

  • Bokamper

    Bokamper's Sports Bar & Grill

1280 S. Pine Island Road Plantation, FL 33324
    954-533-7152

http://www.bokampers.com Dolphins vet (and Plantation resident) Kim "Kimbo" Bokamper started this neighborhood hang to indulge his sports fetish, and it shows. Fifty plasma TVs enough for ya? If you know what most places with that sort of cathodic bling are like in terms of atmosphere, you probably have a good idea what to expect from the food. A few entrees, like the blackened swordfish sandwich and Bo's burger (with a fried egg poised atop) stand out on the menu, but beers, wings, and football: That trusty trifecta is always going strong at Bokamper's. Bongos Cuban Cafe

601 Biscayne Blvd. Miami, FL 33132
    786-777-2100

http://www.bongoscubancafe.com This is as close as it gets to Havana's Tropicana, the swanky, pre-Castro supper club where "Babalu" was born. The salsa theme puts on the ritz accompanied by lots of Cuban food, lots of Cuban music, and lots of Cubans period. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

  • Booby Trap

    Booby Trap

2840 Hammondville Road Pompano Beach, FL 33069
    954-973-6888

http://www.stripclubpompanobeach.com Neither sleazy nor overly pretentious, Booby Trap is a club where ham-fisted security guards aren't watching your every move. The atmosphere is more discotheque than roadhouse, and variety is the name of the game: Dancers have been pulled from the ranks of amateurs, local pros, and porn stars. On a recent Wednesday night, a steady stream of entertainers showed up for work at the club sporting ponytails and workout suits, transformed themselves backstage, then wriggled and disrobed through several songs. After completing their sets, they mingled and chatted with patrons. Frugal oglers will be happy to know that the cover charge is a mere $5 and the only pressure to keep buying drinks is the pounding of your heart. • Boondocks Grille & Draft House

    Boondocks Grille & Draft House

27205 Overseas Highway Summerland Key, FL 33042
    305-872-4094

http://boondocks.us.com This awesome Keys landmark opened way back in the early 90s as a tiny ice cream shack in the middle of the wilderness. Today, the property encompasses a miniature golf course, an eatery, a bar, and a live music venue. There are daily happy hours, trivia nights, and regular bookings of Elton John and Rod Stewart tribute bands. The prime location on mile marker 27 1/2 on Ramrod island in the Lower Keys makes it the perfect place to stop for some putt putt, a few beers, and a fish sandwich on the way to Key West. • Boston Johnny

    Boston Johnny's

    2120 N. Dixie Highway Hollywood, FL 33020
    954-923-7650

Hidden along the train tracks on Dixie Highway in Hollywood is Boston Johnny's, a dimly lit dive bar with a blue neon sign. Formerly the Hollywood Saloon, the bar is now adorned with kitschy Boston sports memorabilia and flat-screen TVs (to watch Celtics and Red Sox highlights, of course). Boston Johnny's opens at 11 a.m., serving a variety of food that includes the "North Endah supah steak," "Buffalo Bill's wild ride," and the "Boston burger." A weekly $6 lunch special runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays are trivia night, Tuesdays turns to poker, and DJ Arista runs karaoke on Fridays and Saturdays. The crowd is a friendly bunch, and the bartender pours a hefty drink, but things may get ugly if you mention Johnny Damon. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

  • Boston

    Boston's on the Beach

40 S. Ocean Blvd. Delray Beach, FL 33483
    561-278-3364

http://www.bostonsonthebeach.com Boston's on the Beach is a Delray institution known for fresh, reasonably priced seafood that's simply prepared. Though it caters to a Northern crowd and makes no secret of its Red Sox allegiances, anyone who's a fan of whole lobster, fried seafood baskets, and a delicious rendition of New England clam chowder will be sated here. There's a spiffed-up interior, with the downstairs dining room catering to a cost-conscious crowd in search of a straightforward meal that's a cut above bar food. It's still a mecca for sports fans, with wide-screen TVs displaying every game a Massachusetts native would ever hope to watch. For fancier meals, the upstairs offers a more extensive menu and refined dining. When the weather cooperates, outside is where it's at: an extensive covered patio with plenty of elbow room, right across the street from the ocean. Despite the location, the restaurant is far from Atlantic Avenue's maddening crowd and offers terrific service from start to finish. http://www.bougiesbar.com Every night feels like a house party at this bar that resembles a wooden cottage. The front porch is quiet enough for conversation and sipping Patrón on ice. Inside the dark bar, there are always live bands jamming while people dance and drink. The back patio features another bar and hookahs available for smoking. This place rules! • Boynton Beach Ale House

    Boynton Beach Ale House

2212 N. Congress Ave. Boynton Beach, FL 33426
    561-735-0591

Another one of the chain Ale Houses. Same old pool tables, same old food, and the same old cheap drink specials. But, in the west side of Boynton, it's a good find. Dozens of TVs tuned in to different sports and decent bar food make it a good place to relax after work with a few friends. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

  • Brass Ring Pub

    Brass Ring Pub

10998 Okeechobee Blvd. Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411-1331
    561-296-4563

http://www.brassringpub.net This West Palm Beach favorite offers a solid bar burger made with half a pound of grilled beef purchased from local butcher Nebraska Meats. The Brass Ring Pub's hand-shaped burgers are cooked to order in sight, and the use of lava rocks adds a smoky flavor. This isn’t a gourmet burger joint, so the choices are somewhat limited. Stick with the classic, or upgrade to include mushrooms, bacon, and/or cheese. Feeling fancy? Try the spicy burger topped with blue cheese. • Brian Boru

    Brian Boru's Irish Pub

7201 Lake Worth Road Lake Worth, FL 33467
    561-964-8881

An enormous pool hall and Irish restaurant and bar in western Lake Worth, Brian Boru's offers 12 Simonis cloth pool tables to bar patrons and county and regional tournaments for the American Poolplayers Association. The pub's two bars, a small one in front and a long one that runs along the side wall opposite the pool tables, are lined with televisions. Sports games and UFC fights appear larger than life on the pub's six giant projection screens. Brian Boru's offers several food and drink specials throughout the week. Happy hour starts when the pub opens and runs until 7 p.m., wit all liquor drinks half-priced and select beers $2 for bottles and $1.25 for drafts. During games, domestic buckets cost $11 and import buckets $13. Between 9 p.m. and midnight on Thursday, patrons flip a coin with the bartender to see who buys the drink. During the weekday happy hour, appetizers are half off and pool is free from 4 to 6 p.m. The kitchen is open until the bar closes at 5 a.m. and serves breakfast between 1 and 5 a.m. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

  • Brickell Irish Pub

    Brickell Irish Pub

    1451 S. Miami Ave. Miami, FL 33130
    305-381-6651

http://www.brickellirishpub.com Brickell Irish Pub is rather like a very dark sports bar: lots of plasma TV sets, rock music, and so forth. If that's not your cup of brew, there's a brighter, quieter outdoor dining patio. Either way, you can choose from dozens of bottled beers at $4.50 to $5.50 and ten drafts at $6.25 per pour. The menu proffers about a half-dozen each of pub snacks, starters, salads, sandwiches, burgers, dinner entrées, and sides. What differentiates a "pub snack" from a "starter" is vague; the first category includes fish dip, Buffalo shrimp, mozzarella sticks, and potato skins; the latter brings, among other things, chicken wings, chicken tenders, and beef sliders. We advise to avoid the fish dip. Begin instead with char-grilled sliders or a pan-seared Irish fish cake flaky with smoked salmon and cod. Fish 'n' chips, shepherd's pie, and Irish stew were solid if not sensational. The only problem with a dessert called "McKrispy's bread pudding" is that it wasn't crisp enough. Service is amateurish, but prices are forgiving: All pub snacks and starters are under $10, all main courses less than $20. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

  • Briny Irish Club

    Briny Irish Club

280 SW Second St. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
    954-630-2856

Like owner Mike Brennan's other Broward County pubs (Dicey Riley's and the Briny Irish Pubs at Riverfront and in Pompano Beach), Briny Irish Club's design is eclectic. From wall to wall and all across the ceiling, the entire venue is covered with guitars, surfboards, hobby planes, and photos of rock and pop stars from Jerry Garcia to Billy Corgan and Eminem. You could spend an entire night trying to break down the meaning behind this seemingly excessive ornamentation, but it's much more fun to let it fade into the background and have a drink. Besides, the long, broad, dark-wood bartop, where the drinking action happens, has its own allure. The bar's vibe crosses the unbridled energy of downtown Fort Lauderdale's Himmarshee party scene with the propriety of a neighborhood pub. Live bands play on Friday nights, and a VJ plays dance music that's synchronized with all of the bar's flat-screen televisions on Saturday nights. Various drink specials, such as $2 Miller and Bud Light drafts, are on all the time. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

  • Briny Irish Pub

    Briny Irish Pub

3440 E. Atlantic Blvd. Pompano Beach, FL 33062
    954-942-3159

http://www.brinyirishpubs.com/pompano.html A "traditional" Irish bar located smack dab on the corner of Sleazy Street and NE Drunk Avenue in Pompano. Really doesn't sound like it should work, right? But the clientele that packs the Briny every night (especially Saturday night, when Rob Rage, the Briny's own rock 'n' roll cover band, plays) doesn't give a shit. They're just there to drink, shout incoherently, and hope the room stops spinning before they get thrust out upon the beach at 2 a.m. Actually, it's easy to think the room's spinning even if you're not drunk, since the bar is cluttered with kitschy Florida décor (mounted fish, thick ropes, life preservers, photos of people holding mounted fish and life preservers) and other assorted oddities such as encyclopedias. A word to the bar fight-inclined: The Briny has an extra-long bar top, perfect for throwing the raving lunatic hitting on your girlfriend down the bar, where your friend will have hastily set up a pyramid of beer bottles for him to smack into.
