http://www.cucinadellarte.com Is it a club or a restaurant? Both. After 10 p.m., the tables are swept away and the disco ball starts twirling at this Italian eatery in Palm Beach on the north strip's restaurant row. At any given moment, find celebs, beautiful people, and wannabes from across the bridge sitting with the tourists or achieving critical mass on the dance floor into the wee hours every night. Foods are more often above rather than below average, but it's frequently anyone's guess - and always pricey, even at lunch. Pack a fat wallet to dine here unless you want only a pizza (not at all a bad choice). A big group of pastas, meats and seafood dishes - a whole bronzino is often a special - round out the large Trattoria-like dinner menu. Main plate salads and panini win the raves at lunch. While food is served late night, it's best to plan only to drink and dance. It's an al fresco restaurant, with tables behind and around the central bar, but dedicated sidewalk seating is available. http://www.chesterfieldpb.com Terminally hip out-of-towners like to come to Palm Beach and dis our tatty old Leopard. Yeah, there's a lounge singer with his Casio belting out Barry White tunes; the sartorially inept jokers wearing $700 lime-green slacks (Where do they find them? Oh, right, two blocks away on Worth Avenue.); the Southern lady lawyers screaming into their cell phones; the big shots ordering $400 bottles of champagne; the doyennes - newly resurfaced skin stretched tight and shiny as latex over jutting cheek and collar bones. But an excellent late-night menu, served until 1 a.m. on weekends, of exotic burgers and creative small plates makes the LL a favorite haunt of hungry nocturnal felines. And where else are you gonna find an appetizer of creamed chipped beef - made with sirloin tips and sautéed mushrooms, no less? Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
http://www.thebreakers.com You don't have to be a wealthy guest of the renowned Breakers Resort to enjoy a cocktail in this luxurious setting, but it certainly couldn't hurt. Located off the main lobby of the upscale travel destination, this plush lounge is one of Palm Beach's prime spots to rub elbows with beautiful people in a beautiful setting. The room has a throw-back sophistication -- lots of gold touches, low lighting, and the behemoth namesake tapestries -- without being too stuffy. If you're looking to mingle on a budget, head there early and get in on the daily happy hour with half-priced cocktails from 5 to 7 p.m. The high-ceilinged room hosts live music every night of the week, mostly of the jazz, pop, and world varieties.
