Yard House

Yard House

The chain restaurant from California, named for the yard-high glass originally created to serve stagecoach drivers, spurts more than 200 beers on tap - the main draw.
Whiskey Blue

Whiskey Blue

A ritzy alternative to the beach-bum bars at Beach Place, the W Hotel's Whiskey Blue boasts a sultry décor: Low, blue lights artfully drip from the ceiling, and a muted yellow glows behind the liquor on the shelf at the horseshoe bar.
Stratford's Bar

Stratford's Bar

Good news for the budget-conscious: Draft beers are always $1.75, and during happy hour, they're $1.25.

  • Titanic Brewery and Restaurant

    Titanic Brewery and Restaurant

5813 Ponce de Leon Blvd. Coral Gables, FL 33146
    305-668-1742

http://www.titanicbrewery.com This brewpub across the way from the University of Miami is owned by beer lover Kevin Rusk, who makes it a point to pour good, homemade suds to accompany great live music. Since the place opened in the Nineties, the menu hasn't changed an iota. The seasonal brews are always a delight: The Triple Screw is a fail-safe standby, and the guest-starring Woodchuck cider tastes like frothy heaven. Generously sized empanada appetizers boast tasty meat interiors and flaky pastry exteriors. Other standouts include crawfish-and-andouille bisque, and steamed mussels "fra diablo." On a recent visit, the steerage skirt steak sandwich came dangerously rare in the middle, but the Santa Fe chicken salad, with creamy garlic dill dressing, was crunchy and delicious. Dinner entrée prices top out at $17.95, which will nab you either a rib eye steak or soft-shell crabs, and $14.95 for shrimp étoufée is a steal. Rotating rock bands and slurring coeds are regular fixtures. The Sunday night karaoke delivers a hearty dose of Journey and Sublime. The over-the-top interior is somewhat of a combo of "meet at the drive through" meets Greek palace meets cartoon-ish neon lighting. Despite its massive size and unique decor, we all know where most eyes will be. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

  • Tryst

    Tryst

4 E. Atlantic Ave. Delray Beach, FL 33444
    561-921-0201

http://www.trystdelray.com Executive chef Julian Greaves, formerly of Sol Kitchen, has put together a menu of small plates, bar food, comfort food, and bistro classics that pairs exquisitely with the excellent list of 50-plus, personality-forward craft beers. With input from a quartet of restaurant-savvy owners (Rodney Mayo and Scott Freilich, who own Dada, the Dubliner, and Howley's Diner; Butch Johnson from 32 East next door; and Dave Robinson of Delux nightclub), he's created dishes as aromatic, intense, and highly seasoned as these beautiful beers, matching them stride for stride with nightly specials (seared black cod, pork tenderloin), small plates (fish tacos, Indian spiced lamb chops, fish and chips), and chef's favorites (foie gras with bread pudding, pad Thai). Go early or midweek if you want time and space to eat and explore the beer list at leisure: Weekends are a madhouse. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

    Twist

1057 Washington Ave. Miami Beach, FL 33139
    305-538-9478

http://www.twistsobe.com A mainstay on Washington Avenue for over 15 years, Twist is the mother hen of South Beach gay clubs. Inside the spacious club you'll find seven different bars; a tiki bar, something called a "Frolic Lounge," a salsa room in the bottom floor, and a house music dance floor at the top. Still one of the few places where you can find go-go dancers at midnight on the beach, Twist is open seven days a week from 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. It's conveniently located near the popular 12th street gay beach, and the 11th street diner where Will Smith's "Miami" was shot. The Vagabond

    30 NE 14th St. Miami, FL 33132
    305-379-0508

http://www.thevagabondmiami.com The outskirts of Miami's Overtown hood are becoming a gentrified version of the Sunset Strip in LA. This club's DJ plays Bad Brains, as skate videos are projected onto a large outdoor movie screen. Any questions? Famous UK DJ John Digweed is one of the owners, we voted it the Best New Bar in 2008, and the Bad Girls Club Miami filmed a chick fight here last year. • Yard House

    Yard House

601 Silks Run Hallandale Beach, FL 33009
    954-454-9950

http://www.yardhouse.com Here's a rollicking spot for beer lovers. The chain restaurant from California, named for the yard-high glass originally created to serve stagecoach drivers, spurts more than 200 beers on tap - the main draw. A unique system of chilled taps that run in long lines to the keg room keeps beers fresh and tasty -- and with a sampler option, hopheads can try several at a sitting. The huge island bar with stools in the center of the room parallels the open kitchen, where American fusion dishes fly out the service windows. It's a busy, lively spo, with classic rock on the speakers day and night. A late-night in-the-biz crowd comes for an after-shift brew. Moviegoers and families can be found at early hours, noshing on burgers (don't miss the béarnaise sliders), sandwiches, personal pizzas, and a good salad selection. Even the kids' menu has healthful sides such as jasmine rice or a green salad. A special "gluten sensitive" menu also is available. It's value priced too - the reason you see so many regulars here.
