The accouterments at the 12 O'Clock High Lounge are just as laid-back as the drunkards inside. There's a pool table for the sharks, a tiny stage in back housing local acts, and a cash-only policy. With its location off the Hollywood Broadwalk, it's no surprise the crowd is made up mostly of locals and randoms stumbling in off the sand. The tipsy patrons sit along the long wooden bar telling stories and cheersing one another for no reason other than just being drunk. The bartender has a heavy pour, and if you stick around, a free shot might come your way. The no-nonsense 12 O'Clock High Lounge may not be a destination point, but it sure is "just one more drink before we go" kind of place. In addition to the full liquor and beer selection, the Big Easy offers authentic New Orleans cuisine mixed with American selections. Throughout the week, the stage is never empty, and music from the local talents packs the house, leaving standing room only. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>

Hidden along the train tracks on Dixie Highway in Hollywood is Boston Johnny's, a dimly lit dive bar with a blue neon sign. Boston Johnny's opens at 11 a.m., serving a variety of food that includes the "North Endah supah steak," "Buffalo Bill's wild ride," and the "Boston burger." A weekly $6 lunch special runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays are trivia night, Tuesdays turns to poker, and DJ Arista runs karaoke on Fridays and Saturdays. There's no door, no sign, no cash register — just a thatched-roof hut decorated with bric-a-brac and a couple of tables nestled right on the shore of the Intracoastal, hidden just south of the Dania Beach pier. Whiling away hours at this gem of a hangout is just like chilling in a buddy's backyard... if your buddy had a backyard minus a house. Owner Ed Colville opens from noon until dark, or whenever he feels like it. He need earn only enough to pay taxes on his little scrap of land. Ed will be happy to grill you a hamburger if you bring some (he doesn't have a food license) or get you a beer out of the fridge he keeps in his shed. But most of all, he seems to enjoy hanging out here with his family and his dog, loving life and watching the boats pass by. That, and telling dirty jokes to his visitors. http://www.daniakingsheadpub.com From the outside, the place looked like a little bed-and-breakfast that belongs in New Hampshire. From the inside, the place looks like somebody stuck a dining hall from the English countryside onto an Old World pub. The walls are covered in knick-knacks from the Old Country, including photos of old trucks and half-century-old alcohol labels. There's so much attention to detail that while eating, Henry VIII and his wives watch over you. The food's topnotch and served until 11 p.m. The beer flows from the taps as fast as you can drink it until 2 a.m. on the weekends. Read more about this Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach bar or club >>
http://www.theletub.com Ever since Esquire named Le Tub's giant, char-grilled burgers among the best in the nation, this eccentric watering hole has overflown with would be beef-biters looking to sample the fare. But all these bandwagon jumpers may have missed the point - yeah, the burgers are great, but it's the secluded waterfront tables and "everybody knows your name" vibe that separates Le Tub from all the other gin-joints in town.
