    Downtown Delray Beach

Atlantic Ave. from the Intracoastal to Swinton Ave. Delray Beach, FL 33444
    561-243-7000

http://www.downtowndelraybeach.com Anyone who says South Florida's dining scene is dead just needs to show up in downtown Delray on a weekend night and take notice. In that stretch of Atlantic Avenue between Swinton Avenue and the Intracoastal is a wealth of restaurants doing creative things with food. With trendy restaurants like the Office, and Max’s Harvest, the city's got swank and then some, with posh joints like 32 East and Vic & Angelo's leading the charge. And for a high-end small-plates, beer, and tapas bar, Tryst delivers charming plates with easy-to-swallow prices. Even ethnic dining has made a big splash in Delray. Indie joint Bamboo Fire has drawn in gobs of foodies with its honest take on island food, while Cabana el Rey has earned fans for its homey Cuban cuisine. You could eat for weeks in Delray and never run out of options — breakfast at Atlantique Cafe followed by lunch at Jimmy's Bistro? Or maybe sushi at Yama before drinks and tunes at Dada? The options are wide open in this gourmet paradise. More >>

  • Delux

    Delux

16 E. Atlantic Ave. Delray Beach, FL 33444
    561-279-4792

Pretty types gab away while crowded around the lighted bar in Delray Beach -- and look good doing it. Sheer drapes separate the cushy seating area from the dance floor, where clubgoers move like liquid to the flow of house music. In the covered outdoor area, taupe bed-like seating in the VIP area makes it easy to hobnob with the hotties. Aside from the fabulous be-seen digs, Delux plays a diverse offering of music from '80s to house to hip-hop. More >>

    Dockers Bar and Café

318 N. Federal Highway Dania Beach, FL 33004
    954-920-7072

Nestled between Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood on waterfront property, Dockers Bar & Cafe is a drinking-man’s home away from home. Having been around since 1947, this watering hole caters to the locals-only crowd. Overlooking the Cozy Cove Yacht Basin, the main bar is filled with the scent of the salty sea. Patrons sharing stories of a hard day's work and tales of drinking woes surround the large wooden bar. Because the bar is extremely casual in attitude and atmosphere, you'll never catch a suit and tie here. Open till 4 a.m. every night of the week, Dockers is always ready to welcome folks looking to drink. More >>

  • Doraku

    Doraku

1104 Lincoln Road Miami Beach, FL 33139
    305-695-8383

http://www.dorakusushi.com Friday happy hour at this casually stylish spot (a seafood spinoff of the old-school Benihana Japanese steak-house chain) has long been legendary among savvy sushi fans seeking a bargain. From 5 to 8 p.m., the price of a nine-buck specialty cocktail gets you two drinks and unlimited trips to a small but tasty buffet of sushi and Pan-Asian snacks. Don't pass up the regular menu, though; prices are no lower than those at any SoBe sushi bar, but dishes are generally more creative. Especially recommended is the carpaccio (salmon, hamachi, or ahi) in beautifully balanced sauces; crispy rock shrimp and oriental basil leaves; and a spicy, crispy salmon roll. There's also a large selection of vegetarian items and an extensive list of boutique sakes. More >>

  • The Downtowner Saloon

    The Downtowner Saloon

408 S. New River Drive E. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
    954-463-9800

http://www.downtownersaloon.com You've exited the jailhouse, and with just a few steps in the throwaway sandals so kindly provided, you've crossed the street — into the Downtowner Saloon's lot. Because that insufferable block of cement has just vanished from view, dine outside and relish the backdrop of downtown's unadulterated skyline. This coveted seat is far removed from the cold metal seats of yesteryear. You might have spent yesterday peering through thin slit windows, but now you have the horizon to contemplate: boats cruising under two cotton-candy-pink bridges. Order a cocktail or glass of wine and some food. It's not your last meal; you can come back tomorrow. There's a special no matter which night of the week you get bailed out of jail. More >>

  • The Dubliner

    The Dubliner

435 Plaza Real Boca Raton, FL 33432
    561-620-2540

http://www.dublinerboca.com Even if it's not St. Patty's Day and your heart doesn't pump green blood, there's no reason not to indulge in a little Irish living from time to time. Boca pub the Dubliner takes your liver and taste buds straight to Erin with its two-for-one deal on Guinness on Wednesdays and dishes including Guinness cheese fondue and shepherd's pie. Located in the ultraposh Mizner Park, the Dubliner boasts a beautiful mahogany décor and bar, beers from around the globe, indoor and outdoor tables, and communal counters that resemble upscale cafeteria seating. Befriending other customers is a snap, especially during karaoke night. Local bands and performers frequently grace the stage. Tuesdays include trivia night, and Monday's karaoke night includes a free first drink for those who participate. How's that for incentive to take your act from the shower to the stage? More >>

  • The Duck Tavern

    The Duck Tavern

5901 N. Federal Highway Boca Raton, FL 33487
    561-998-8288

http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Original-Duck-Tavern/137524096300208 Worlds away from the lavish establishments of Boca, the Duck Tavern is where the hard drinkers about town choose to knock back a cold one. The interior looks a little dilapidated, but in a good way. Barstools are a bit torn, old newspaper write-ups grace the exposed-brick wall, and cigarette smoke permeates the air. Outside Boca's standards, the Duck is hardly a dive. Customers have tons of sitting space, and the bar serves countless exotic beers from places like Chile, Japan, Ethiopia, and Israel, to name just a few. The bartenders are friendly but definitely emit the take-no-shit attitude that coincides with the Duck's sometimes-downtrodden clientele. The Duck also offers great specials, perks, and events like half-off drinks if you wear a Duck Tavern shirt on Monday. Bottomless drafts on Wednesday and Saturday, Wi-Fi for those who can drink and work simultaneously, and free poker tournaments on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays -- buy-in is at 8 p.m. More >>
