  • The Vagabond

    The Vagabond

    30 NE 14th St. Miami, FL 33132
    305-379-0508

http://www.thevagabondmiami.com The outskirts of Miami's Overtown hood are becoming a gentrified version of the Sunset Strip in LA. This club's DJ plays Bad Brains, as skate videos are projected onto a large outdoor movie screen. Any questions? Famous UK DJ John Digweed is one of the owners, we voted it the Best New Bar in 2008, and the Bad Girls Club Miami filmed a chick fight here last year. More >>

  • Village Pump

    Village Pump

4404 El Mar Drive Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308
    954-776-5840

http://www.villagegrille.com Upscale but located in the beach hub of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, the dimly lit Village Pump serves a casual crowd that doesn't want to skimp on its booze or food. The great drinks slide across a marble bar, the wine list is more than adequate, and the food comes from its sister restaurant the Village Grill, located next door. Sports dominate the TV, the music doesn't stray much from the standard Top 40, and the crowd skews around 40-plus. If you're looking to absorb the beach breeze while sipping on some cocktails, the outdoor seating can't be beat. Bring quarters, though. Parking's a bitch. More >>

  • VP Records

    VP Records

    6022 SW 21st St. Miramar, FL 33023
    954-966-7236

http://www.vprecords.com There's no shortage of reggae aficionados in South Florida. It's a mini-Mecca for reggae lovers — so it would make sense to have a bunch of shops that sell the music. That's not exactly the case, though; instead, we have just a handful. Clearly leading the little pack is VP Records, the retail facet of the legendary record company of the same name. The Miramar store boasts a courteous, knowledgeable staff that's entrenched in South Florida's reggae community. Most impressive is their selection, which covers a ton of new and old reggae and soca recordings. Unfortunately, they don't have much vinyl anymore, as even their namesake transitions to an all-digital future, but they do have nearly every current release, plus roots and culture sections that rival what you'd find in Kingston shops. It's physically a small store but they've managed to cram a heap of music inside it, making VP the obvious first choice for local reggae shopping. More >>

  • Waterway Cafe

    Waterway Cafe

2300 PGA Blvd. Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410
    561-694-1700

Drinks and seafood come at decent prices. An outdoor, floating bar is a hot spot to drink rumrunners and watch boats cruise past. For the past 17 years, Waterway's Sunday Night Reggae Party, Rhythmation, has raged out of control. More >>

  • Waxy O

    Waxy O'Connor's

1095 SE 17th St. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
    954-525-9299

http://www.waxys.com The pub's interior is so authentically Irish, you almost expect a peat fire to be burning. Instead, you'll have to get a glow off the Irish brews on tap, including Harp and Guinness. The fare's a bit inconsistent, comprising American (Buffalo wings), British (bangers and mash), and Irish (oak-smoked salmon) favorites. The Irish standards, particularly the beef stewed with Guinness and served with homemade brown bread, are handled best. Have a nightcap for dessert with whiskey-laced, bread-and-butter pudding. Enjoy an Irish breakfast on weekends. More >>

  • The Wayward Sailor

    The Wayward Sailor

3045 N. Federal Highway Wilton Manors, FL 33306
    954-630-2856

http://www.facebook.com/waywardsailorpub The Wayward Sailor Pub, located on the southwest corner of Oakland Park Boulevard and Federal Highway, often serves as a post-party spot for nights at the music venue Culture Room. But it does fine on its own as it offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere: nautical with the spirit of Fort Lauderdale but full of Pittsburgh Steelers pride. The bar has a wonderfully diverse selection of beer from standard domestics to Belgian beers you've never heard of to Pittsburgh beer staple Iron City. The food is served with the loving attention associated with a family-owned bar -- on most nights you'll see the owner manning the ship as he sits at the bar. Poker night with a casino style table is held regularly. TVs throughout the bar display all the sporting events of the moment. And the jukebox brings the tunes. Don't forget to ring the bell on the way out. More >>

  • Wishing Well Irish Pub

    Wishing Well Irish Pub

111 SE Mizner Blvd. Boca Raton, FL 33432
    561-750-5208

A little hint of the Emerald Isle can be found just beyond the doors of the Wishing Well Irish Pub in Boca Raton. The high-ceilinged and roomy pub is located in the heart of the city at Mizner Village. Although the interior feels a bit like the old city of Dublin, the wide variety of flat-screen TVs, dartboards, and pool tables makes any patron feel right at home. In addition to the inside, there is also an outdoor garden patio for those looking to escape and take in the surroundings. Not only is there a colorful array of beers and liquors to choose from but there are traditional delights on hand like bangers and mash or a succulent shepherd's pie to fuel those Irish cravings. So take a load off and wash the day's troubles away with a hearty pint of Guinness or Harp, or try your luck with a stiff shot of Irish whiskey. More >>
