This casual Pembroke Pines bar could be Broward's hub of karaoke. It offers patrons the chance to take the mic four nights a week. Friday and Saturday, classic-rock covers sate the crowd, which dances along, shoots pool, and throws darts. More >>
http://www.cheersfoodandspirits.com In Fort Lauderdale, bars come and go quicker than the tide rolls in, but every now and then, one opens and decades later new generations of locals are filling up the barstools, just like here at Cheers. From neon signs to pool tables and sports memorabilia, the drinking hole has all the quintessential trimmings, but it’s the patrons who give it real character. On weekends, the stage is filled with an array of bands, but during the week, patrons can take their shot on the stage at open-mic night or karaoke. More >>
http://www.chillwinelounge.com Fort Lauderdale's independent Gateway movie theater might not be able to boast chef-prepared foods deliverable to high-back leather recliners like at the big mega-chain multiplex, but it's now possible to enjoy a specialty glass of wine or craft beer before walking over to your first-run indie flick. That's thanks to Chill Wine Lounge, the “deco glam” watering hole located next door to Gateway that opened in December 2012. Sure, the ultramodern chrome accents, over-the-top neon purple lighting, and floral motifs all detract a little from the gorgeous terrazzo flooring and generous wine and craft-beer menu (and is an iPad really necessary to take our drink orders when the bar is literally three feet away?) -- but who cares? This neighborhood spot is the perfect place to begin your night out to the movies or end an evening with great drinks. More >>
All the flashy, thumping clubs that fill our cities are enough to make bargoers nostalgic for the watering holes of bygone days -- the kind in the old Westerns, where folks can drink, dance, and shoot a game of pool. For the city-dwelling cowpokes, there's Chit Chat's Lounge. Chit Chat's is a clean, classic, laid-back spot. Shoot a game of eight ball, hit the dance floor, or kick back and watch one of the many high-definition TVs. And don't be afraid to let a big "Yeehaw!" slip out. More >>
http://www.churchillspub.com Miami is sorely lacking in decent rock clubs, so Churchill's is home to many a scruffy punker who is too real for South Beach. A pair of pool tables, a large room for bands, and a sizable outdoor patio help house the mainland rock faithful. More >>
http://www.circusbar.com Let's get one thing straight up front: Clowns are fucking creepy. And circuses are mostly filled with sanctioned animal abuse and freaks who don't believe in gravity (until it hits them in the face). But not all big tops are bad. The Circus Sports Bar and Grill in Pompano has a fantastic collection of clowns and party animals sitting on both sides of the old wooden bar every night. These Ringling-worthy souls won't jump through fire on command or crowd into a tiny car with a bunch of men in makeup (well, maybe after a few drinks). But most of the neighborhood men and women who've been coming here since the '70s will buy a stranger a round and sit around shooting the shit. There's no bearded lady or tight rope, but there are enough pictures of clowns to scare all the children in Florida twice over. Clown paintings, clown drawings, clown sculptures, even a stained-glass clown. Luckily, the friendly faces (and cheap drinks) more than make up for the eerie setting. Plus, it doesn't smell like elephant shit. More >>
