http://www.arshtcenter.org The Adrienne Arsht Center might be Miami's most beautiful building. Any way you slice it, the modern tribute to glass and steel is a bold reminder of our city's commitment to the arts. Most major shows make a stop at the Arsht Center, from Les Miserables to the Boston Pops. The largest performing arts center in Florida, this 5,000 seat apex is comfy indeed. There's a concert hall, a theater in the round, an outdoor performance space and even a swanky eatery on site. Sure, a visit to the Arsht ain't cheap - you'll pay out the ass for drinks and snacks and probably tickets - but it's so worth it to nourish your starving intellect, now isn't it? More >>

http://www.grandcentralmiami.com The Garret is a secret hideaway club within downtown indie hot-spot Grand Central. It has its own side entrance (use 7th street), and a steep flight of stairs, so watch your footwork. The bar is dark, the drinks are cold, and the intimate room hosts artists and DJs well into the early morning. More >>
http://www.manuelartimetheater.com When the major venues are a little too overwhelming, you can turn to the charms of intimate Manuel Artime Theater. With a sloping floor that makes for great views, this 839-seat spot lends its stage to dance, theater, opera and symphonic performances. Old school spots like this are few and far between, and there's something to be said for slightly faded charm. Step outside of the arena scene and check out a show or concert at this Little Havana haunt. More >>
http://www.miamiimprov.com This casual-upscale comedy club and dinner theater features national touring acts and local talent. http://www.nws.edu The sleek, stunning stylings of the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center could almost overshadow the sounds of its inhabitants. Almost. But Miami Beach's kings (and queens) of classical music manage to do their digs justice. Here you can listen in on some of the nation's most outstanding young musicians before they move on to even bigger things. With more than 60 annual performances (many of them free), the New World Symphony is impressively prolific. There's also an on-site Soundscape, where films and performances are screened on a 7,000 foot outdoor projection wall while attendees lounge on the lawn, drinking wine and nibbling at cheese. Plus, they host post-performance parties that are a little more action-packed than the earlier affairs. All in all, impressive is an understatement. More >>
http://www.palmbeachimprov.com Start your drinking adventure at the Wet Willie's portion of Palm Beach Improv. Choose from a rainbow wall of spinning frozen drink machines, ready to dispense preshow drinks. There are 11 kinds, and the bartender will be happy to let you sample as many as you'd like before settling on one. Once inside the Improv, browse the menu for frilly drinks with names as silly as the jokes, served in large glasses. In addition to national acts, head over on a weekday night for local talents performing open mic showcases. More >>
