http://www.c-istudios.com Located in a 4,000-square-foot warehouse space in Fort Lauderdale's up-and-coming FAT Village Arts District, C&I Studios is a multipurpose media company and events space with the mission of developing and cultivating an arts scene in South Florida. The massive, open space is host to a smorgasbord of events, from themed art walk parties and $1 movie nights to "Live at C&I," a free concert series showcasing the best in local music. Complete with its own recording studio, wardrobe and makeup area, cycloramic wall, lounge area, and even its own fully stocked and licensed bar, this hip and relaxed spot is for the community — everyone from local creative types to firefighters and cops can be seen hanging out at one of the events. “This is our town, and it is creative,” says founding director Josh Miller of the space. “People just didn't know where to go. Now they do.” More >>
The worst way to find fresh fish and shellfish is to follow your nose. If you can smell it, it's already bait. The best way to find fresh fish and shellfish is to follow I-95 to Boynton Beach Boulevard to a funky-looking little concrete block building just a Key West pink's toss from everybody's favorite amateur speedway. In the more than 15 years since purchasing the market from the grandson of namesake Capt. Frank, ex-New Yorker Joey Sclafani and family have made it into something of a mecca for discriminating piscavores. The selection of seafood, from both local and other East Coast waters, is as diverse as it is pristinely fresh: Key West pink shrimp or the sweet reddish specimens from around Cape Canaveral, live soft-shell crab in season, locally caught grouper and mahi and yellowtail snapper, dry-packed scallops, and sushi-grade tuna. And though the shop is tiny, with more room for seafood than people, the only smell is the clean, briny tang of the sea. The nose knows. More >>

http://www.thecheesecourse.com Let's face it: Cheese makes everything better. The Cheese Course -- a chain with four locations throughout South Florida -- is a nod to the stores of Europe that sell one item done extremely well. Patrons wander through the odorous shop and are encouraged to sample from more than 150 cheeses from all over the world before making selections. Take a seat and enjoy a custom cheese plate sampler, or order from the bistro menu (sandwiches, salads, omelets). Knowledgeable staff help steer unsure eaters in the right direction. Throughout the month, people are encouraged to come in for classes on pairings, specialty cheeses, and cooking demonstrations from “the Cheesemonger.” More >>

http://www.thecheesecourse.com Boxed wine and wobbly Velveeta slices may have worked in your salad days, but if you're ever going to prove your entrance into adulthood, take a visit to this elegant cheese shop for some kitchen essentials. Choose from Bloomy rind, washed rind, fresh and blue varieties and pair your selections with a list of champagnes, Rieslings, pinot grigios, and other alcohol-based options. If you're hankering for a snack before you bring your goodies home, grab a sandwich like the Talleggio cheese steak with sauteed mushrooms and onions or the classic cheddar melt with aged cheddar, sun-dried tomato pesto, black olive tapenade, and fresh basil from the Bistro Menu at this Hallandale outpost.
