Nova Southeastern University and the Consulate of Argentina in Miami will host the film series, Cine Argentino, a dedication to Venezuela, on Sundays from September 4-25. Actress and journalist Adriana Bianco will provide Spanish commentary on the films.
All films will be shown at 2 p.m. in the Don Taft University Center Performance Theater on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus, 3301 College Avenue, Davie, 33314, and will include:
Sept. 4: “Manuela Sáenz,” a film based on the love between military leader Simón Bolivar and Manuela Sáenz in the 19th century. The film will have English subtitles.
Sept. 11: “100 Años de perdón,” an Argentine-Venezuelan production about Venezuela’s banking crisis in 1994. The film will have English subtitles.
Sept. 18: “De Navíos, Ron Y Chocolate,” a documentary of the Corsican immigrants who arrived in Venezuela in the 18th century. There will be no English subtitles.
Sept. 25: “Desnudo con Naranjas,” a historical narrative about the love affairs between a white woman and an indigenous man during the 19th century Federal War of Venezuela. There will be no English subtitles.
