It’s a running joke that every trend takes a few years to hit South Florida. That doesn’t mean the region’s denizens aren’t hungry to experience everything new and hip as it happens. Be on the front lines to witness the unveiling of the newest phase in the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project at this month’s Downtown Hollywood Artwalk on Saturday night. Artist collective 2alas and solo artist Evoca1 each have committed to the project, which commissions “thoughtfully-curated” murals by prominent street artists. Evoca1’s “Posers and Dream Crushers” (located at 2020 Hollywood Blvd.) is expected to be completed in time for the walk, while 2alas will be at the very beginning stages of its “Untitled” (Mona Lisa) mural located at 1900 Hollywood Blvd. Other artists that have contributed to this downtown initiative include Ruben Ubiera, Luis Pinto, David “Lebo” Le Batard, and Jessy Nite. The Downtown Hollywood Artwalk is 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. There is no cost to attend. Call 954-924-2980, or visit hollywoodcra.org.
