Wednesdays are equal parts awful and wonderful. As far from last weekend as it is close to next weekend, Wednesday is like the Autumnal Equinox of the week. So go out and get a little taste of that sweet weekend freedom and head over to the Hump Day Food Truck Collective in Tamarac Park. For the past two years, this weekly roundup of gourmet eateries on wheels has been bringing together the hungry community of Tamarac for a midweek reminder of what life is really about. Spend a little time with your sweetheart on a weeknight date. Up your foodie game with a tasting tour of every truck. Or just lounge out in the grass and let the kids run off dinner — they’ll go to bed without a fight for once. The rotating roster of food trucks means there’s something for every palate, like Arepas Las Gorditas, Monster Burgers, Potato Corner, PizzaZilla, Bahama Bucks, and Everglades Food Shack. There are occasional theme nights — like the recent Bacon Day — as well as a monthly movie night. Set the DVR, bring a picnic blanket, and enjoy some of that outdoor Florida living the rest of the country is so jealous of.
The Hump Day roundup takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday — weather permitting — at Tamarac Park (7501 N. University Drive, Tamarac). Admission is free. Follow the Food Truck Collective on Facebook to keep up with all of its events.
