Humans are storytellers. We craft stories from words and pictures, we act them out, and we dance and sing them. We share stories and we exchange them. Stories allow us to communicate, to persuade, to entertain, to remember. We fill them with creativity, and we send them around the world. How can story, creativity, and global learning come together in a vibrant teaching practice? What stories are we and our students learning and telling about ourselves and the world? What do we think we know because of the stories we have been exposed to? How can we find new ways of seeing? What do stories look like when they’re told without words? How can we integrate other art forms into their creation? How can we use stories, written or otherwise, to teach about ourselves and to learn about others? Join Blue Planet Writers’ Room and your fellow teachers, teaching writers, and teaching artists this summer for a weekend exploration of story, creativity, and global learning that will recharge your teaching and refresh your creative spirit. Theme talks, hands-on workshops, and international experts will instruct and inspire you. Time for creating and reflecting will honor your own artistry. Delicious meals and evening parties will give you time to celebrate and mingle with other excellent teachers, writers, and artists. The Weekends Themes: Friday evening Remembering What We Bring: Drawing from the Wellspring of Our Artistry Saturday morning The Commonality of Humans: Telling Our Stories with Writing and the Arts Saturday afternoon An Environment of Curiosity: Infusing Our Teaching with the Brilliance of Creativity Sunday morning Millions of Thumbprints: Global Learning in a Tumultuous World Sunday afternoon Capturing the Butterfly: Creatively Documenting Our Students’ Triumphs $195 includes participation in all theme talks, hands-on workshops, and reflection sessions; all materials, supplies, and take-home resources; and breakfasts, lunch, and receptions.
