History shows that hippies have been known to be antiestablishment, and establishments have been known to be antihippie. This has been the nature of things dating back to the days when the signs said "long-haired hippie people need not apply." But today -- when psychedelic drugs are being studied by reputable scientific organizations and yoga, meditation, vegetarianism, and "going green" are all fashionable mainstream trends -- it looks like maybe the hippies had the upper hand (businesswise). Therefore it's only natural that one establishment has opened its doors to the barefooted, flower-toting tribe, thus allowing more doors -- the doors of perception -- to open as well.
Colorful, twirling, jamming heads will gather monthly for Open Grass Psychedelic Sundays at Kevro's (166 SE Second Ave., Delray Beach). Kevro's is a far-out spot. What a suitable atmosphere! Not only is this establishment welcoming the tribe but it is encouraging everyone to bring paints, Hula-Hoops, instruments, hand drums, and any other tools for groovy living. Expect live art, drum circles, jams aplenty, body painting, and more to inspire you to wave your freak flag wide and high. The free event is for (flower) children 21 and over and begins at 4 p.m. Call 561-278-9695, or visit kevrosart.com.
