A one-team sports pub is what Rooney's is all about. The owners are the founders of the Pittsburgh Steelers, a good thing to know before you start talking trash about the Black and Gold. Super Bowl plans must be made well in advance here, of course. The menu in the dark-wood and dark-green rooms is heavy with bar foods, but notable is the all-Angus Rooney burger and the "Ruben meets Rachel" corned beef and turkey sandwich. They're Irish, so potato-leek soup, shepherd's pie, fish and chips, and Irish stew -- dubbed "Steeler's stew " -- are served here -- and the place rocks like a ship on St. Patrick's Day. A long list of brews, with the pub's own Rooney's Red Ale, are offered. Look for a few Pittsburgh favorites as well -- you don't find pierogies on just any menu in town.
