The Turtle, as it's known locally, is a casual, neighborhood-type spot near the beach in a strip mall and serves as both retail seafood market and a hangout bar and grill. Fish is a mainstay, but standard small plates and appetizers satisfy the crowd that comes for the cheap beer and camaraderie. Grilled fish sandwiches, burgers, and salads are a mainstay, though the chowders and the wings have their own fan clubs. Diners can eat indoors at scattered tables, at the bar, or on the back patio. Live music plays on weekends -- the rest of the time, the patrons shoot pool or cheer for whichever New York team is playing.
