3 G’s Gourmet Deli

5869 W Atlantic Ave
Delray Beach, FL 33484
561-498-3910
Website
Lots of South Florida delis tout themselves as "New York-style" but lack the basics: overstuffed sandwiches, a three-hour early-bird special (in this case, 3 to 6 p.m.), and the delicacy meat called "cow tongue," which the uninitiated cringe at and connoisseurs relish. 3G's has been dishing up egg, tuna, and whitefish salads since 1986 and has all the basics covered. Besides a tongue sandwich on rye, the menu offers everything from cheese blintzes to sweet-and-sour-stuffed cabbage. Nothing goes with brisket like a cup of chilled borscht (beet soup). Fresh fish of the day is served every day. Next to the refrigerated cabinet with the corned beef and pastrami, another cooler holds powdered-sugar-sprinkled treats. The linzer is there — moist raspberry jelly between two not-too-sweet cookies. Computer-savvy early birds should check out 3G's website for a $1-off coupon — to redeem it, you must be seated by 6 p.m.
