Finally, a real alternative to Starbucks. Bacio, an Italian company starting to make inroads into the Florida coffee and gelato business, quite frankly blows the buck out of the water. Bacio’s drinks are addictive: An espresso crema is a wine-dark shot glass of hard-core Italian coffee topped with frothed heavy cream and a dash of shaved chocolate. Bacio’s cappuccino is one of the best we’ve tasted outside Europe. Espresso shakerato froths iced espresso in a shaker and tarts it up with the flavor of your choice. And if that weren’t enough, the place serves the most gorgeous gelato you’ve ever seen: silky vats of pure poetry in flavors of kiwi, licorice, macaroon, dulce de leche, green apple, honey, mint chocolate chip, toasted almond, white chocolate coconut… A menu of snacks includes panini, toast italiano, fresh salads with grilled eggplant, tomatoes and basil, tuna and arugula. Delizioso!
