Dada

52 N. Swinton Ave.
Delray Beach, FL 33444
561-330-3232
Named for the irrational art-and-literary movement that characterized Europe in the early 1920s, Dada features Salvador Dali-inspired art on the walls of this revamped Key West-style cottage, a breezy outdoor patio with "counter" seats circling a gigantic banyan tree, and alternative-type entertainment (think acid jazz, fashion shows, movie nights, and poetry slams). The cocktail list is a mile long, offering zany takes on the mojito and the margarita, and executive chef Bruce Feingold's menu runs the gamut from haute weird (an arugula salad with pineapple, tomato, blue cheese, and rosewater dressing) to homey scrumptious (an autumnal pork chop topped with baked apple and cranberry compote). There's also grilled Brie with honey-garlic butter, butternut squash ravioli, and Gino's famous meat loaf. Salmon is particularly fresh and wonderful, napped with a maple-habanero glaze and served with orzo and roasted vegetables. Try cobbler of the day for dessert for a down-home touch, but don't expect much else at Dada to remind you of Mama. - Gail Shepherd

The Inside Word on Dada

  • nanopixy
good food, atmosphere and there is always something happening.

Its an old house that has been transformed into a chill spot to have a lot of good drinks and delicious food.

When you find yourself at some boring club to which friends dragged you, close your eyes, click your heels together and say: "There's no place like Dada." Open seven days a week, this 1924 two-story house turned restaurant/pub attracts an eclectic crowd of artists, musicians and poets who gather for open mikes, poetry slams, fashion shows, Popscene Saturdays, films and indie bands. Oh yeah, there's food, too. It's the perfect blend of great activities and homey atmosphere. Nothing like sitting on the couch after a little fondue and listening to a local band like Summer Blanket or an out-of-town act like SNMNMNM perform in the living room.
