The buzz about Five Guys' famous burgers is palpable - touted by many a city paper as the best burgers ever flipped into existence, the thinnish, griddle-cooked patties have a lot to live up to. Mostly, they do that. Mostly. The daily-ground beef is lightly packed and grilled to a savory, caramelized crunch, then stacked into twos and loaded into a supple, sesame-seed bun. The meat's OK, but the toppings are where it's at: Choose to load your greasy gut bomb with fresh jalapenos, grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon, steak sauce, or whatever your heart (attack) desires. Big bags of spuds displayed in the front of house are cut into skin-on fries daily, though they could use more time crisping in the peanut oil and more salt. The milkshakes are also decent, and so are the prices.
