Osterie are known for their simple and inexpensive Italian fare. Owned by Giovanni Rocchio of Valentino's Cucina Italiana, Osteria Acqua & Farina is the down-home version to his high-end concept. Situated in the former space of Valentino's, just north of Davie Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, the restaurant has been transformed into a comfortable, homey spot. The contemporary space is cleanly adorned with crisp white tablecloths, black framed mirrors, and vintage Italian cocktail ads. The wood-burning oven churns out beautifully crisped pizzas with bubbling crusts. Toppings range from, simple such as the traditional margherita, to gourmet, like the porcini, with taleggio cheese, porcini mushrooms, truffle oil, and garlic. A variety of pastas, entrees, and appetizers are also on the menu.Their nutelino, a calzone stuffed with nutella, topped with whipped cream, is to die for.
