Siam Rice Thai and Tapas opened in Hollywood in August 2012. It is the sister restaurant of Siam Rice on Miami's Biscayne Boulevard – though shinier and cleaner. The focus here is on the nearly 30 small plates that make up the majority of the restaurant's menu. Many of the items have been adjusted to suit American tastes. A pad thai is light on fish sauce; steak bites look like nigiri but are made with marinated, cooked strip steak instead of raw fish; Katsu ice cream is fried. Nonetheless, with choices ranging from chicken wings to crispy duck curry, the menu has something for everyone. Throw your concerns about authenticity to the wind and just go for what looks good. None of the 'appetizers' are priced more than $8 and a couple can easily make a complete meal out of four or five well-picked items.
